While officers were en route, the call was upgraded to a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located a man lying in the street suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by medics. At this time detectives have not determined a motive or suspect(s) description. The victim was identified as 20 year old Jamek Renal Herbert of the 3300 block of Marshall Avenue in Newport News. 1(888)562-5887 LONNIE LORENZO HOLLAND On March 9, 2014, at 6:23 p.m., Hampton Communications received a call in reference to a shooting in the 2000 block of Seldendale Drive. Upon officer’s arrival they located the victim, a 33-year-old Hampton female suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation reveals that the victim had been visiting acquaintances in the 2000 block of Seldendale Drive. The residents of the apartment got into an altercation with an unknown suspect. The suspect brandished a firearm a discharged a round which struck the victim. The suspect was last seen fleeing the scene in a dark colored 4-door pickup truck. The circumstances and motive surrounding this incident continue to be under investigation. At this time there is not a complete suspect description to provide.
