Families of Imagine Indigo Ranch...we want you to know how much we appreciate all of the things you do
for us. Please make sure if you are volunteering in the classroom, at home or through PTO, that you track
your hours in the binders located in our lobby.
From the Art Teacher:

Art homework is usually by choice and encouraged for anyone who needs extra
time on their work. Open Studio is also a good place to get extra work done, seek
advice, or just geek out. It is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays during middle school
lunch, and is open for grades 6-8.
From the Music Teacher:

All after school music programs end at 4:00pm. I would appreciate if your child is picked up
no later than that time.

"Joust, A Mighty Medieval Musical", will be performed by the 4th Grade at Banning Lewis
Ranch on the night of Wednesday, January 21st...more information to come .

Board Blog:
The Board had another successful meeting on Monday, Dec. 8.
1. We elected two new officers in leadership roles: Michael Riggs, treasurer, and Mark
Bahnemann, secretary. Thanks to both of them for serving in these important positions.
2. We also voted unanimously to approve the budget and appropriate funds for the current
school year. We had previously approved a tentative budget and this vote solidified our plan
for the year, after making a few adjustments for the number of students currently enrolled.
3. Finally, all of the members of the Board want to wish our parents, students, teachers, and
staff a very Happy Holidays. Please feel free to contact us at our email account: [email protected].
Our next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 25 at 6:00 pm.

Keyboarding Homework:
OPTIONAL: 2nd – 8th Grade Keyboarding Homework Over December Break
Our school is preparing for state tests on computers in late March. These tests help us monitor our success
teaching your child as well as our success as a school. We take these assessments very seriously and greatly
appreciate your child’s attendance and participation. While second grade students won’t take state tests this
year, they are developmentally ready to begin keyboarding. Because these tests are computerized and because of emerging trends in the use of technology in schools, for the next weeks, please encourage your student to practice his/her keyboarding skills at least one hour per week (broken up over the week), to learn the
location of the home row keys, and to increase their typing speed. The following list contains fun ideas of how
to practice typing.
Students: here are some great places where you can practice your typing:
1. Dance Mat Typing: www.bbc.co.uk/schools/typing/
This site is full of lessons and games that teach you all the letters on the keyboard. It is a great
place to start.
2. Typingclub.com is a site many of our students are using in class. http://www.typingclub.com/
3. Free Typing Lessons: www.freetypinggame.net/free-typing-lesson.asp
As long as you dodge the ads, this site has solid lessons. You can pick specific letters to
practice. You can also work on different speeds of typing so you can do it all the way through
at one speed and then complete it again at a faster speed.
