Need for Storage Enhancement
• All physical server will migrate to RIaaS
• Accomplish running High IO services in RIaaS
• Random access
• DB (OLTP) , VDI , High-io batch
• Escape from AO impact
• Without spending high cost
• SSD of 3PAR was too costly…
• Small start , easy to scale
We needed to provide more faster and cheaper storage

Driving Factor
• We had many idle x86 based HW with SSD
• Wanted to use these servers efficiently
• The only requirement was to purchase software
• Wanted to start small
• Software-Defined
• Technology challenge
• As a one option of choice
27

Impression of VSA
•
•
•
•
28
VSA is running without any problems.
It’s a little bit complicate.
VSA with SSD is cheaper than Full Flash 3PAR.
But Full Flash 3PAR faster than VSA with SSD.

Still had challenges
• Result for implementation of VSA was good
• Good for redundant environment
• Database slave etc
• Concern about reliability
• Not for large-scale enterprise environment
• Still Need even higher performance
Need to boost-up RIaaS storage
Without implementation effort
