BIO for Ryan Thorn NAHU President-Elect Ryan began his career in 1983 working for New York Life Insurance. His interest quickly developed in health insurance and in 1985 he focused his time in the group and individual health market. He is an independent personal producer and established his own agency in 1990. Active in leadership positions since 1992. Ryan served on the Utah State board through each position including president in 2000. During his term, Utah won several NAHU awards including the National Champion Gain Membership Award, the Landmark Award and had the national recruiter of the year. He then served as the Region 7 HUPAC chair until July 1, 2005 when he became the NAHU Region 7 RVP. After serving 2 years as RVP, he then served on the NAHU Education Foundation, including chair of the Foundation in 2009-2010. He also served on the (YAHU) Young Agents Health Underwriters, NAHU E/O, and the LPRT/Soaring Eagle committees. He currently serves as NAHU President-Elect and is the BOT liaison to several committees. He is looking forward to serve as your National President this June. In 2001 Ryan received the NAHU State Legislative Achievement Award presented at Capitol Conference. The state of Utah presented him with the 2002-2003 “Health Underwriter of the Year” award and in 2006 was awarded the “Lifetime Achievement Award”. Ryan has a love and passion for golf and enjoys his weekly golf outing with his wife Robin. Over the past several years he has developed into a real “Dance Dad” as he supports his daughters in their various dance programs and competitions. Ryan said, “I am grateful for the support of my dear wife, Robin and my four wonderful children. I could not fulfill my NAHU duties and responsibilities without their devoted support”. He has a love and passion to this great association and feels there is no other association with the quality of people that you find in NAHU.
