2014-2015 FIRE SAFETY POSTER CONTEST 2013-2014 WINNERS Steven Baker, K-3rd grade GET CREATIVE AND HAVE FUN! Poster Theme: Show what you know about fire safety The winners in each category will be recognized and invited to meet Governor Sam Brownback and State Fire Marshal Doug Jorgensen at the capitol building in Topeka, KS in January 2015. The posters will also be displayed at the capitol building for a limited time and featured in a statewide calendar promoting fire safety. POSTER REQUIREMENTS Poster is LABELED ON THE BACK with the student’s (1) name, (2) grade, (3) school, (4) student’s town and county, and (5) teacher’s contact information Poster must include ORIGINAL STUDENT ARTWORK ONLY (no adult assistance). Do not use replicas of copyrighted or registered characters or logos, or software clip art. Poster must be 11” wide by 8½” tall (standard copy paper size). Manila, white drawing or construction paper may be used. All words should be spelled correctly and readable at a distance. All posters must be done by an individual. Joint work is not allowed. Holly Forge, K-3rd grade Mady Trower, 4-6th grade DATES AND DEADLINES Local contests will officially begin October 4, 2014. Posters must be submitted to your local Fire Department, or their designee, through your school by November 1, 2014. Local Fire Departments must submit town winners to the Office of the State Fire Marshal by November 30, 2014. State winners will be announced by December 12, 2014. PARTICIPANT ELIGIBILITY: Student is in K-6th grade. The contest will be divided into three age groups: Grades K -2, 3-4 and 5-6. Student attends a Kansas school. Poster is postmarked to local fire department by November 1, 2014.
