As Christians, we have the perfect example of love in action - God sending His only Son, Jesus, to die for our sins and rise again to give us new life. God, who is love (1 John 4:8), calls His followers to love one another as He has loved us (John 15:12). That includes people of different skin colors, Children’s Director: Kim Shore cultural backgrounds, physical abilities, and even religious beliefs. Kids notice differences and may be unsure how to treat people. But no matter a person’s appearance or situation, Jesus loves and values him or her, and He calls us to do the same. As parents, you play an important role in teaching your children how to love others in both word and action. Here are some helpful tips to follow:  Acknowledge the differences that kids notice in people and allow them to explore those differences.  Encourage children to look for positive qualities in others. Focus on what makes each person special and unique. Kids who feel secure in themselves are more likely to embrace other people with love.  Be a role model of love and acceptance. If you want your kids to express love, you need that same approach yourself. As your role model remember Jesus who befriended outsiders and outcasts. Upcoming GROW KIDS Activities:  Praise Makers will begin working on the “I Can Only Imagine” musical on Sunday, February 1st during the evening service. The kids will sit in the service during the music and then be dismissed. The program is Sunday, May 3rd! Praise Makers is for all K5-5th grade kids. The Preschoolers will be working on songs for the program during Children’s Church.  It is time for baseball and softball! Signups run through Sunday, February 1st at the Welcome Center. (Teams will be determined by the number of signups received.) Age groups range from 4 year olds through 7th grade. We must have an interested coach for each team before a team will be formed.  Covenant Christian Academy 2015-2016 school year registration begins in February. Registration for church members opens on Sunday, February 15th. Registration opens to the public on Monday, February 16th. Spaces are limited for 2K-5K classes. Registration forms will be available at the Welcome Center.  The AWANA theme for February is Hearts for Missions. All AWANA clubbers will receive M&M tubes that perfectly fit quarters! So, eat your M&M’s and then start filling your tube with quarters! A full tube will have $10! All money will go to the Annie Armstrong Offering! We need a few volunteers to help. Please see Jim if you are interested. February 27 – March 1 Exchange Weekend is a discipleship weekend geared to challenge students to study and obey the Word of God. Students will meet at the church for all teaching sessions and stay in homes of church members for the weekend. Students will be divided up by age and gender. Cost: The cost of the weekend is $30. This includes meals, curriculum, lodging and a T-shirt. This is to be paid upon registration. Money is due with sign-up. We need adult volunteers to serve.
