General Information
Thank you for your interest in the role of Vocational Education and Training (VET) Coordinator at TLK
Community College (‘the College’).
As a registerd training organisation (RTO), the College is a not-for-profit provider of education and training
for all segments of the community, spanning both accredited and non-accredited learning. Information
about the College and available courses can be found via the College’s website at www.tlkcc.com.au.
The College is now seeking a suitably experienced person for the role of VET Coordinator.
VET Coordinator – Duty Statement (Job Description)
Reports to:
Supervises:
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Accredited Trainers and Assessors
Summary Statement:
• Ensures provision of quality training and assessment in accordance with the standards for National
VET Regulator (NVR) Registered Training Organisations (RTOs)
• Provides relevant support and guidance to staff, trainers and assessors as required
• Develops, plans, coordinates, evaluates and continuously improves the accredited vocational
education and training (VET) programs and courses of the College
• Works closely with students, stakeholders and industry to promote the College’s VET programs and
support viability and growth.
Role and Responsibilities:
• Co-ordinates development, accreditation and quality assurance of accredited training and
assessment
• Promotes business, prepares relevant marketing materials and seeks and applies for funding,
including government VET tenders, as relevant to College courses and activities.
• Provides excellent customer service, maintaining strong relationships with potential and existing
students, stakeholders and industry
• Develops and implements training proposals for existing and new industry clients; includes but is
not limited to, ‘unpacking’ and ‘mapping’ components of qualifications
• Monitors and reports internally on compliance with standards for NVR Registered Training
Organisations and provides relevant support to staff as required
• Maintains liaison with VET Tutors, prepares programs and maintains course and student
information (e.g. student enrolment guides); also ensures currency of College curricula and learning
resources
• Tracks, monitors and reports on student progress and coordinates funded programs including
traineeships; includes assisting administration staff with the management of student records,
scheduling and other tasks as necessary
• Monitors and co-ordinates transition from superseded training packages/accredited courses to
newly-endorsed versions within the College’s scope
• Co-ordinates and prepares applications for extension/amendment to scope and re-accreditation of
RTO status
• Coordinates or is involved in internal audits on a cyclical basis, reviews findings and makes
suggestions for improvement
• Coordinates recognition of prior learning (RPL) assessments for accredited courses
• Coordinates training validations and co-ordinates continuous improvement of the College’s RTO
operations
• Handles student enquiries, enrolments, training, assessment and other dealings as necessary
• Provides reports at monthly meetings with CEO on all work activities and outcomes
• Undertakes other functions, attends meetings as relevant and works both independently and as a
member of a team.

Work Location
This position would be located at TLK Community College offices provided at Tuggerah Business Park,
Tuggerah, and/or Kincumber Community College, Kincumber, and/or Berkeley Vale Old School Community
Centre, Berkeley Vale.
Terms of Employment
Casual position, currently up to 30 hours per week, with the potential to become permanent employment.
Wages and Conditions
According to Tuggerah Lakes Community College Certified Agreement.
Selection Criteria
Those wishing to apply should address the following selection criteria in their application:
•
Relevant RTO experience for the above role, with a sound understanding of how an RTO operates
covering student, stakeholder and industry expectations
•
Demonstrated high-level skills in communication, networking, teamwork, mentoring, decision making,
problem solving, time management, innovation and customer service
•
Demonstrated knowledge of RTO compliance requirements, as relevant to Training Packages, the
Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and national VET regulator (NVR) standards
•
Knowledge and experience in sourcing funding opportunities and initiating applications for training and
education from various sources, including applications under the Strategic Skills Program (SSP), and to
monitor and coordinate traineeships
•
Skilled in computer use incorporating word processing, Internet and Windows’ applications
•
Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
•
Highly motivated and enthusiastic.
