FROM THE EAST
Greetings Brothers,
I hope all are well. We had a busy month January
with our stated meetings and other meetings to get
ready for this coming year including the officers installation, which by the way was a really fun day. I would
like to thank everybody that was able to come out.
This month is looking like a fully scheduled month
also. Feb. 5th is a Fellowcraft degree at 7:00 pm and
Feb. 19th is an EA degree also at 7:00 pm. Come out
and support our new Brothers as they start their journeys in Masonry. I hope we have good attendance for
these degrees. I believe it shows support and gets
these Brothers excited about getting involved with our
Lodge. And I think that brings in more new Masons,
which is one of our goals for this year.
Also I would like to remind our Brothers who receive this Trestleboared using regular postal service
that we can deliver this using your email address. Your
address is kept private. Just send us an email to [email protected] and we will update you in the
address book. You will also be helping our Lodge save
money. By doing this we save on printing and postage,
so please consider; it helps.
This month we will do something different with our
masonic education. Our officers will be sharing what
they know about chapters in the digest they have read.
We should all learn something here. It should be very
educational. See you there.
Don't forget Spaghetti Dinner, Feb. 25th, 5:00 pm.
Fraternally Yours
Michael Fisher WM

FROM THE WEST
Brothers,
As I sit here on January 12th writing this, (because
as many of you may not realize, we have to get this to
the publisher two weeks in advance), I look back on
last year and I am very happy. Last year was a very
good year for Indian River Lodge #90. A lot of great accomplishments were realized. And many new Brothers
were added to our Lodge. But now is not the time for
us to rest. Brothers, let’s do our best to make this new
year another great year for our Lodge.
Worshipful Master Mike Fisher has set as one of
his goals to make increasing our membership a priority. As many of you might be unaware, the rules have
been somewhat relaxed. We are now allowed to ask
men that we know are of good moral character and
feel would make good Masons to consider becoming a
part of our Brotherhood. We just aren’t allowed to ask
twice. I give you this:
44.10
It is not unlawful for a Mason to ask a
non-Mason if he would like to apply to become a Mason and offer to furnish a non-Mason information about
Freemasonry including the procedures to be followed
to become a Mason and offer assistance in the event
the non-Mason should desire to become a member of
the fraternity, nor will it be unlawful for the Mason to
remind the non-Mason of the offer, but if no favorable
response is made to the offer and reminder, no further
offer shall be made to the non-Mason. (1996)
Any such inquiry or offer shall be limited to a nonMason who is believed to be of good morals, high
character, upright in his community and has a favorable impression of our Fraternity. It shall be unlawful
to urge, insist, attempt to persuade, argue or use any
other device or tactic to induce a non-Mason to petition for membership in the Fraternity. (1996)

and a non-Mason in this matter should be limited and
restricted to an inquiry and offer of assistance and one
reminder of the offer to the end that it may always be
said of every Mason that he came to membership of
his own free will and of his own volition. Any action on
the part of a Mason in approaching a non-Mason in
respect to membership that would violate this concept
is unlawful and would subject the Mason to discipline.

Lets get to work!
As a reminder, on February 5 a FC degree is scheduled, and February 19 we have an EA degree. Please
come and show your support and help your new Worshipful Master achieve his goals for 2015.
