Cady Street Be a pART of it! The Northville Art House is proud to present its 9th Annual Member Exhibition showcasing over 70 works of art in this all-media, nonjuried member show. This exhibition was developed to showcase local talent and to say “thank you” to everyone who is supporting the growth and creativity of the arts in our community. New, emerging and experienced artists come together to present some of their favorite works of art in this highly anticipated exhibition. This exhibit will open with an artist reception on Friday, February 6, from 6-9 pm and will continue through February 27 during Art House Gallery hours (Tues-Fri, 12-5 pm and Saturdays 12-4 pm). Admission to Art House exhibits is always free and open to the public. 12th Annual Firefighters Ball The Northville Township Firefighters Charity Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is excited to announce their 12th Annual Fireman’s Ball on Saturday, February 14, 2015. Last year was the largest event to date with over 420 attendees. The evening will be filled with dinner, drinks, and dancing and provides the perfect night out for Valentine’s Day. The event will feature live, silent and raffle auctions to raise money for local causes. Dan Miller of Fox 2 Sports and the Voice of the Detroit Lions will serve as emcee for the evening, with live entertainment provided by C.O.D. and the Killer Flamingos. The Michigan Press Association has named Rochelle Michigan’s best local columnist three times. In 2014, Hour magazine readers named her Detroit’s best female columnist for the fifth year in a row. And her columns about former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick were part of the entry that won the 2009 Pulitzer Prize in Local Reporting. She was a 2007-2008 Knight-Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan, where she studied online communities and film. She is a sought-after public speaker and raises funds for literacy through the Every December Fundraiser for Literacy, which will be held on December 11, 2015. By City ordinance, all businesses (commercial, retail, and office) are required to register with the City. Basic information of the business is required prior to the issuance of the license. Additionally, telephone numbers are requested to be used in case of an emergency, which might occur after business hours. The fee for a new business license is $35; renewal license fee is $25 (late renewals are subject to a double renewal fee). Please see or call the Business Licensing Clerk at (248) 349-1300. Personal Property Tax Statements – Personal Property Tax is self-reported and is a tax paid by businesses on machinery, equipment, furnishings, and other similar items used in a business. 2015 Personal Property Statements are mailed in Mid- January. This mandatory Statement is requested to be filed by February 1, 2015. However, if no Statement is received by February 20, 2015 by 4:30 pm, the Assessor must determine a value for the business and this value will stand as filed, with no recourse for appeal. Property Taxes – The last day to pay the winter taxes without penalty and interest is February 17, 2015 at 4:30 pm. All unpaid summer and winter 2014 taxes, including penalty and interest, will be turned over to the County as delinquent on March 2, 2015. Dog Licenses – 2015 dog license are now available. 2014 dog licenses expire on February 28, 2015. The cost of a dog license is $9 (spayed/neutered) and $12 (unaltered).
