The class instructor is Alba Rivera-McEwen. The cost of the course is $60.00. Intermediate Sign Language March 5- April 16, Thursday evenings, 6:00-8:00 P.M. This is a class designed for participants with basic sign language skills. Participants will learn to expand their expressions and signs of American Sign Language. This six-week class will teach the intermediate skills of communicating with our hearing impaired friends. There are no required prerequisites. Classes will be held at the Childersburg Campus in room A-108. The fee for the six-week class is $60.00. Textbooks are not required for this course. The class instructor is Sue Graham who is licensed by the State of Alabama to Interpret/Transliterate. No refunds will be given after attending the first class. Self Defense for Adults February 19- March 12, Thursday evenings, 6:00-8:00 P.M. This 4 week course will teach adults (ages 18 and over) hands on training using self defense tactics. This course is being instructed by Sergeant Tony Tomlin of the Childersburg Police Department. Sergeant Tomlin is certified through a-post: self-defense instructor. No refunds will be given after attending the first class. The cost of the course is $10.00. Registration must be in advance, first come first serve. Class will meet in the Lobby of Building A. Veterans need your assistance! The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Talladega County needs volunteers! RSVP is totally focused on assisting veterans. Currently, RSVP need people who can volunteer to drive a veteran to a doctors’ appointments at the Birmingham Veterans Hospital. We need several volunteers that we can call on an as needed basis. Also, volunteers are needed to help at the VA clinic in Childersburg. Can you give a couple of hours a month to the VA clinic in Childersburg or a full day to transport a veteran to a much needed doctor’s appointment? Your views are important, come out and let them be known. The Childersburg Kiwanis Club meets at 11:30 AM twice monthly on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays. The meeting place will be the Old Town Grille. The Kiwanis club has completed a Pavilion in the children’s park downtown.
