Program Description The HSN Grand Rounds foster collaborative patient care and exchange of ideas across all disciplines in health care and medical education. This session will be an interactive review of what to do when a patient dies, how to complete a death certificate, and when to call the coroner. His responsibilities include overseeing the Coroner investigations in the region and optimizing collaboration with stakeholders. David received his medical degree from the University of Toronto in 1987 and his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2005 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2006. David has worked as a family physician (including obstetrics and emergency) and hospitalist and as a lawyer specializing in health and business law. Most recently he was the Vice-President and Chief of Staff of the Brant Community Healthcare System. Dr. Laura Piccinin, MD, CCFP, is an Investigating Coroner for the Province of Ontario (Northeast Region), and an Emergency Physician at Health Sciences North. She is also the Assistant Dean, Learner Affairs at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, and has a particular interest in physician/medical learner wellness. This program meets the accreditation criteria of The College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been accredited for up to 1 Mainpro-M1 credit(s) as approved by the Continuing Education and Professional Development Office at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
