CCRS RUG-III (44-Group)
Grouping Methodology,
2011–2012 Version
The Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) is pleased
to announce that an updated version of the RUG-III grouping
methodology is now available. This product describes the 44group RUG-III grouping methodology through flowcharts and
SAS code. This grouping methodology is meant for use with all
Continuing Care Reporting System (CCRS) data.
The Resource Utilization Group III (RUG-III) Case Mix Index
(CMI) 2011 values for Ontario complex continuing care
facilities are now available as the appendix of the RUG-III
grouping methodology. The CMI 2011 values were derived
through an annual update process using the latest patient day,
wage rate and staff time data available. These CMI values can
be used along with the RUG-III grouping methodology
flowcharts and SAS code, CCRS version, to assign each
continuing care assessment to 1 of 44 Resource Utilization
Groups.
