Pre-Conference Workshop—March 16, 2015
This year’s Pre-Conference
Workshop, scheduled 11:45 am to
4:40 pm at the MCV Alumni House on
the campus of the VCU Medical
Center in Richmond, Virginia, will
feature Kathleen Vollmann, MSN, RN,
CCNS, FCCM, FAAN of Advancing
Nursing, LLC. This half-day program will cover
nursing’s unique contributions to healthcare; using
science to get back to the basics; and a team approach
to skin care with the critically ill patient. NOTE:
Luncheon will be served before the start of the
workshop! Parking is NOT included; information will be
sent in your confirmation letter.
Odyssey Conference - March 17, 2015
Our conference is co-provided by the Greater
Richmond Area Chapter of AACN and the VCU Medical
Center, and will feature some of the latest advances
and research in practice, technology, and healthcare
delivery for acute and critical care nurses. The
conference will cover a variety of topics through
plenary, breakout, and poster sessions related to acute
and critical care practice, and trends in healthcare.
Please join us this year, and don't miss this opportunity
to meet with colleagues and conference faculty, share
innovative ideas, and catch the enthusiasm of fellow
nurses and other health care professionals from the
Mid-Atlantic region.
Call for Poster Abstracts
We are accepting applications for poster sessions at
the 2015 Odyssey Conference! Poster abstract content
must support nursing and allied health topics in
research, evidence-based practice, leadership, ethics,
public policy and advanced practice. Deadline for
receipt of Poster Session Application and Abstract is
February 3, 2015. Any questions, please contact us at

The VCU Medical Center is an approved provider of
continuing nursing education by the Virginia Nurses
Association, an accredited approver by the American
Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on
Accreditation.
Registration and Fees
The registration fee includes program materials,
continuing education contact hours, break
refreshments, luncheon, and parking at the convention
center. Minimum and maximum numbers for
attendance at this conference have been established,
and we reserve the right to substitute speakers/topics,
or cancel if necessary.
Online registration is through the VCU Medical
Center’s Learning Exchange portal. Non-VCU
participants will need to set up a free account (if you
do not have one) and then log-in to register. Once

Cancellation Policy
Full refund, minus $15 processing fee for written

Teri Lynn Kiss, RN, MS, MSSW,
CNML, CMSRN is president of the
American Association of CriticalCare Nurses (AACN).
Ms. Kiss is director of Medical
Unit-2 South and Case
Management Services at
Fairbanks Memorial Hospital
(Banner Health) in Alaska. She
previously was adjunct and assistant professor at the
University of Alaska‘s School of Nursing, Fairbanks,
from 2002 to 2010 and a certified flight nurse for
Fairbanks-based Guardian Flight Inc.-Critical Care Air
Ambulance from 1998 to 2005. Ms. Kiss has held staff
and management positions at Knoxville-based East
Tennessee Baptist Hospital and Parkwest Hospital,
and Singing River Hospital, Pascagoula, Mississippi,
between 1977 and 1984.
Ms. Kiss is a frequent speaker on clinical and nursing
leadership topics, and is also a member of the
American Society of Professionals in Patient Safety,
Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses and National
Association for Healthcare Quality.
