A ONE TIME AWARD IN 2014. It is our desire that the student receiving the bursary should be a “good” student. They do not have to be amongst those achieving the highest marks in the class, or even on the honor role. We do want the recipient to have worked hard and applied themself to their studies. The recipient should be a “deserving” student who is a productive member of the school community and the community at large. If the student has displayed some athletic ability that is worthy of recognition that is fine, but they do not have to be a “star” athlete. The most important criteria is that the recipient should be someone for whom this bursary (presently $1,000) will be meaningful. It should be someone for whom the receipt of this bursary could be the difference between either going on to post-secondary education or not. For clarification, what we don’t want is for the recipient to be a star athlete who is at the top of the class and who will be receiving more than 1 other bursary or scholarship (either for academics or athletics) and will be attending post secondary education without breaking a sweat.
