What can I do right now to prepare myself to apply for scholarships?
 Have copies of at least three (3) good letters of recommendation from teachers, employers or mentors.
 Be able to show documented proof of community or volunteer service.
 Know your current cumulative GPA.
 Know your SAT or ACT scores or be preparing to take the SAT or ACT.
 Write a one to two page essay that highlights your strengths and touches on the following information:
o Academic Achievements
o School Activities
o Community Services
o Unique Achievements
o Leadership Qualities
 This essay can be used over-and-over to apply for multiple scholarships so take the time to make the best!
Helpful Hints for Completing Applications:
 Print all worksheets/applications and prepare a draft before completing online.
 Transcripts are available from the Guidance Office. Attendance reports are available from the Attendance Office.
 "Deadline" means scholarship application is due at individual scholarship office, NOT postmarked on deadline date.
 Every college and university offers scholarships and financial aid. It is recommended you contact your favorite college or university early
in your college planning. Most colleges have web sites with their scholarships, awards and honors programs listed.


Student must have a minimum 2.0 current GPA and minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA

Student is required to submit a transcript, completed application, and a one-page personal
statement (See Application Packet for detailed requirements).

Application packet must be completed electronically and printed. Click HERE to access the
electronic application.

Drop off completed application packet at CHS College & Career Center, Room 103. Deadline
is no later than 2:30pm on April 9, 2014
University Place Classified Association Student Scholarship

Must have a parent/guardian/grandparent working as a classified employee of the University
Place School District under the UPCA umbrella

Student is required to submit a transcript, completed application, one letter of recommendation,
resume (See Application Packet for detailed requirements)


UW Nikkei Alumni Association Scholarship
 Applicant must be of Japanese ancestry who plan to attend the University of Washington
 Based on financial need, academic achievement and community service, especially in the
Asian-American community

Paul R. Wineman Freshman Scholarship / Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity (UW)

Must be a freshman male student at The University of Washington Fall 2013


The Matrons Club

Must be a African-American Senior, planning to attend a four-year college or university, or will
enroll in a two-year college

Min 2.5 GPA & High School/Community Activities

Need 3 Letters of Recommendation; Personal Statement of 300 words about your academic
achievements, community activities, and future plans for your profession or occupation.


Nordstrom Scholarship - 80 students are awarded a $10,000 scholarship, which is paid over four years
to the college of his or her choice. In order to be considered for a scholarship, students must:
 Available to high school juniors planning to attend a 4-year college/university after graduation
 Have a cumulative unweighted GPA of at least 2.7
 Have made a substantial contribution to his or her community & be involved in school activities
 Demonstrate a financial need
 Currently reside and attend school in the Washington/Alaska region

 Must be an above-average pierce county high school student, who desires to further their
education, has shown athletic prowess in golf, has no police record, is of outstanding character,

Western Undergraduate Exchange Program (WUE) – The WUE is a program of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). Students
