I have enjoyed the opportunities of participating in several Christmas Parades in and around this immediate area. Once again the Tennessee School For the Blind Annual Christmas Program was as usual, an emotional experience for the leos, lions and especially those that were attending for the first time. Past District Governor Ralph Brewer was definitely in rare form with introductions. Lions we are in crunch time to boost our numbers in this quarter. Our numbers are lacking greatly and we have several clubs in continuous financial dismay. We must all remember why we joined our local lions club and how we have helped in our communities and around the world. Humboldt Lions just celebrated their 75th Year as a lions club. A very passionate Past District Governor and Humboldt Lion, with 50+ years of perfect attendance, Dave Martin said, “Don’t give up, we are all needed in the community to help those less fortunate.” That is why we do what we do! Don’t forget about the Lions Learning Retreat that is right around the corner in January. There will be many seminars to interest all attendees. We are now readying ourselves for our annual District Conventions across our great State of Tennessee, 12L Spring Convention will be held at the Double Tree Hotel, Jackson Tennessee on February 27th and 28th. Make your plans to attend an exciting convention, with dinner and entertainment on Friday evening. Saturday will kick off with a breakfast and several informative speakers that are passionate about lionism. The keynote speaker will be International Director, Don Shove from Washington State. I am honored to serve as your district governor! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me via email at [email protected] or my cell at 731-694-1695. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! New members are Sandra Pruett, wife of 1st VDG Bob Pruett and Will Rojas, husband of Humboldt President Lisa Barker. PDG Dave Martin tells guests of his experience with Lions Club and urges Lions not to give up because we are all needed in our communities. PDG Wendy Cain from 12N was the guest speaker at the Humboldt Lions 75th Anniversary Celebration. She had some inspirational comments which included the following about our lives. She said we are To Live, To Love, To Learn, and to Leave a Legacy. She told us our club is leaving a legacy because of our commitment to Lionism. She closed by wishing us a Happy Birthday. Thank you to all of the Lions who celebrated our 75th with us!! Please recognize your worthy members with a Melvin Jones Donation to LCIF now. Membership Report I am saddened to say that we are -80 since July of 2014 and -115 since this month last year in membership. We have lost the Puryear Club and we have a couple of clubs behind enough on dues payments that some may be put on status quo. There are a lot of great things going on in our district but membership growth and club expansion are not among them right now. Again. I encourage all of you to pause after the new year. Complete the Club Excellence Program and take a long hard look inside your club to determine what is stopping you from growth and retention. I will be happy to meet with your membership committee at a separate time than your meeting date and help you with club excellence or just brainstorm ways to re energize your club. Just contact me and lets make 2015 a great year. - IPDG David Caldwell Cabinet Officers 2014-2015 District Governor Immediate Past District Governor PDG David Butler 105 Parks Street Trimble, TN 38259 (C) 731 694-1695 (E) [email protected] Trimble Lions Club IPDG David L.
