TAP form Paris Womens Fashion Week Feb Mar 2013

Paris Womens Fashion Week/Carrousel de la Mode Paris
Feb/March 2014
11 Exhibitions and 8 Agent Showrooms qualify for grants (please see over)
The static exhibitions in Paris are probably the most famous in the international women's designer and accessories
calendar. They are on at the time of the Paris catwalk shows, and attract buyers from all around the World; they are
traditionally the first step into export for many British womenswear and accessory designers.
Over 250 British designers and womenswear brands show regularly at the exhibitions which now attract UKTI funding.
These are: capsule, d&a, Fashion Scout, MeMyMode, Paris sur Mode, Première Classe, The Box, Tranoï, , Vendôme
Luxury, WOMAN, and ZipZone (see P3 for full contact details). Some shows are for established labels, some actively
seek out new designers who have not shown before and some take a mixture of new and unknown designers. 8
selected Agents’ showrooms now qualify for grants as well (also listed on P.3).
It’s not a question of booking space – you have to convince the organisers to want you there! So you must first visit
these exhibitions to see which one is right for you and your merchandise. Exhibition space is limited, and collections are
carefully selected (from images, background information and Press packs). If you have visited the shows, and you know
where you would like to exhibit, you should apply for stand space, and, at the same time, complete the grant
application forms. Don’t wait until you have been offered space at a show; if you do that, it will be far too late to get a
grant!
If you would like further information and advice on showing in Paris, and on exporting in general, please contact
Laurian Davies at UKFT, and get our free booklet “Making an Exhibition of Yourself – a guide to showing abroad”.
Additional marketing help and advice is available to companies which are members of UKFT.
If you are showing in Paris, you will be included in the UKFT famous Brits in Paris Map …see
http://ukft.org/britmap/map.html. You will also be invited to contribute images and a logo to The Loop, the image
presentation which promotes the British contingent in Paris for the shows – see last season’s here http://www.ukft.org/brits_around_the_world.php?page=about&psub=brits
If you are serious about showing and you would like a grant, you should apply to UKFT for the grant at the same time
as you apply to the Organisers for space. Don’t wait until you have been offered confirmed space at the show or it
will be too late to get a grant! There are a limited number of grants for each show, so get your application in now! If
you don’t get space, or you pull out for some reason, provided you let us know well in advance, we can withdraw your
grant application and refund the UKFT fee.
If you are new to export and/or exhibiting and would like some help, please contact Laurian Davies at UKFT and get a free copy of
“Making an Exhibition of Yourself – a guide to showing abroad”.
The Government scheme for trade fair support (TAP) restricts grant assistance primarily to companies which are both SMEs and New
Exporters, or who have been exporting for fewer than 10 years (see attached Guidelines for definitions). SMEs which have not shown
at the previous edition of this event might still be eligible for a grant, even if they are experienced exporters. In Europe, the grant is
now at a flat rate of £1,500 towards your show costs, provided you have paid a minimum of £1,500 for the stand, or
on eligible costs directly related to the exhibition. The grant is paid after the show. If you would like to apply you
should NOW (at the same time as booking your stand):
1. Complete the UKFT application form and the UKTI Tradeshow Access Programme (TAP) form
2. Scan at same size and e-mail them to Laurian Davies [email protected]. We will acknowledge
receipt of your forms.
3. Pay the UKFT fee – either by bank transfer, credit/debit card or cheque. You will get a receipted invoice
for VAT purposes after the show has taken place.
The TAP form is then sent to your local office of UK Trade & Investment, as they decide on your eligibility for
grant support. If you are new to the scheme, they will call you for a chat about your business so please
respond to their calls or e-mails promptly so as not to hold up your application. For further information
please contact UKFT: Tel: 020 7843 9460 or email [email protected]

Application for grant reimbursement Paris Women’s Fashion Week Feb
Feb/March 2014
Government support takes the form of a reimbursement of £1,500 (provided you have paid a minimum of £1,500 of
eligible costs directly related to the exhibition). In the event that your stand cost is insufficient to qualify for a grant,
related expenses may also be taken into consideration. Please ask UKFT for details. Reimbursement will be made after
the show, and will take several months.
To be eligible for a UKTI reimbursement, you must be a UK-based SME and a new exporter (unless you did not show at
this event last season); please see accompanying sheet for more information and definitions. You must be selling goods
originating substantially in the UK, or which add significant value to a product of non-UK origin. You don’t need to be a
Limited Company. After the exhibition you must provide us with proof of payment within one month of the end of the
show. You may also be asked to complete a post-event evaluation questionnaire.
UKFT FEES: £300 (inc VAT) towards UKFT marketing activities. Payment of this fee must accompany your
application. This money will be refunded if UKTI deems that you are not eligible for a grant, or if you do
not get space at the show, provided you inform UKFTat least 6 weeks before the start of the event.

Remember – completing this form does not book your stand at the exhibition. You must also complete and
return to UKFT the UKTI TAP Exhibitor Grant Application Form, complete the Organisers’ application form before their
deadline, submit to their vetting procedure if required, and pay their fees when due.
I agree to inform UKFT immediately if the company will not be showing and understand that if UKFT is
not so informed (at least 6 weeks before the event), this fee cannot be returned. I agree to send UKFT
proof of payment for the show by the required date, and I understand that if I do not do so, I must still
pay this fee.
Declaration: I agree to abide by the Organisers’ and UKFT Terms & Conditions (available on request) and accept that
cancellation may incur full costs, and that there will be no entitlement to a grant. I am an authorised signatory of the

UKFT Grant Application Rules 2014
This form must be signed and returned to UKFT with every TAP Grant Application
Please read through the accompanying Guidelines to the TAP Scheme
DO NOT WAIT TO APPLY FOR A GRANT until you have been accepted into a show – that may be far too
late. There is a very limited number of Grants for each event, so please apply as soon as you know you want
to show. The sooner you apply, the sooner your grant can be confirmed. There are two forms to complete
and send to UKFT (with your payment) to apply for a Grant.
A UKFT Marketing Fee is payable each time you show – this is £250 + VAT. The Marketing Fee is agreed
with UK Trade and Investment in advance, and enables us to promote UK exhibitors at each event.
Payment of this Fee (by bank transfer, card, or a cheque payable to UKFT) must accompany every grant
application. This money will be refunded if UKTI deems that you are not eligible for a grant. It will also be
refunded if you do not get space at the show, provided you tell us in writing at least 6 weeks before the start
of the event. If you withdraw from a show and don’t tell us, your Marketing Fee will not be refunded.
TAP support is no longer on the basis of matched funding. From now on, you only have to be able to prove
(with receipted invoices) that you have spent on your stand (and on associated items, if your stand is cheap)
a minimum of £1,500, (the value of the grant for the show). If you have concerns about this, please speak to
your UKFT show contact.
TAP funding is Government money. UKFT commits to using all the grants allocated to each show....so if you
pull out of a show late, and a grant cannot be used, this money is completely wasted. It cannot be transferred
to another exhibitor or rolled forward to another event. Wasted grants put the viability of the Grant scheme in
jeopardy.
Caution – applying to more than one exhibition
When you start exhibiting, you may well think about applying to more than one show, but do this with caution.
Most Organisers will not cancel a stand once it has been “booked” (and this does not necessarily mean
signing a formal booking form). Many Organisers are extremely litigious, and will pursue you for the full costs
of the stand (for which you would not get a grant if you are not showing).
Please complete this form, which must accompany every grant application.
Have you received a grant under the TAP scheme since April 2009?
