Subject: Authorization to Exit Tools from Production
Dear Supplier,
We contact you today to reinforce the proper procedure and way to communicate the
need to remove a tool from production for any activity which could pose a timing risk
and/or part shortage prior to the tool returning to production.
This requirement does not apply for any regular tool maintenance or any tool fixes
which are short in duration and do not pose a risk for the tool or an uninterrupted supply
of parts to KSS.
This requirement applies to any activity related to a tool repair, tool refurbishment,
tool/part change, site transfers, etc. which due to the causal nature, duration, or
validation require a bank build or pose a risk of compromising part delivery.
Additionally, this requirement applies for all regular production tools, as well as tools in
the pre-production phase and production tools supporting new programs in
development as carry-over part usage.
In every case you must explain your intentions and receive written approval from the
MP&L Manager (Material Planning and Logistics) of each KSS plant that the given
part(s) from the tool are supplied to. This is mandatory to manage the potential affect
and agree on the quantity of a part bank build and to protect in all cases the timing for
the down-time activities.
In the pre-production phase, you must additionally seek approval from the KSS Program
Manager, SQE and Tool Engineer.
Failure to do so could jeopardize the entire production or pre-serial deliveries for the
projects where we are working together on, and cause serious issues at the customer.
