Curriculum Vitae of Dr. Nicholas Andrew Robinson
Qualifications
Currently contracted with Nofima (Norwegian Institute of Food, Fisheries and
Aquaculture Research) as a Research Scientist and affiliated with Flinders University
in South Australia as a Senior Lecturer. Twenty years of research experience with the
genetic improvement of livestock and aquaculture species with a focus on molecular
genetics, gene mapping and genomics. Has held positions as the Head of Genetics
with the Department of Primary Industries Victoria (8 years), as the Research Leader
of Breeding and Genetics at AKVAFORSK (Institute of Aquaculture Research,
Norway, 2 years) and as member of the Board of Directors for the Akvaforsk Genetics
Centre (2 years). Awarded several research grants (eg. funded by the EU Commission,
Norwegian Research Council, Department of Innovation Industry and Regional
Development Victoria, Fisheries Research Development Council Australia,
Australian Research Council, Dairy Research Development Organisation,
International Wool Secretariat). Author and co-author of around 50 journal
publications and book chapters contributing to knowledge about disease resistance,
expressed sequences and polymorphisms revealed by mRNA-seq, microsatellite
evolution, population genetics, gene marker discovery, bioeconomic modelling and
marker assisted selection.

FITSMOLT: Improving Atlantic salmon smolt robustness to reduce losses in sea by
development of screening tests, exercise regimes and markers.
