Please encourage your child to make their best effort for these exams. They are a great opportunity for students to find out how ready they are for the November NCEA examinations. If necessary, they can then fix any gaps in subject knowledge or exam technique. The most useful preparation a student can be doing at this stage is to attempt old examination papers from www.nzqa.govt.nz. Next week’s practice exams are also important for those chasing year level academic awards and for those who find they need to seek compassionate consideration in November. PB4L “Be responsible, be respectful, be ready to learn”. Hawera High School has been working on the better behaviour for learning project this year. We recognise that supporting all members of the school community to treat others well is important for student achievement and develops important life skills. We will be reporting more on this project in future newsletters. NZQA new App “The NCEA Guide” In the lead up to national NCEA exams, we would like to encourage all parents, whanau and employers to download the App. The App provides quick and easy access to key information about NCEA and makes practical information about NCEA more easily accessible. Parents and whanau are able to access simple content about how NCEA works and how they can support family members studying in NCEA (no individual student result or progress information is available). The App also supports employers seeking to understand and evaluate NCEA graduates and their qualification. Content can be viewed in English and Te Reo Maori. The NCEA Guide App is free to download from the Apple App store and Google Play Store.
