Hotel Madera Hong Kong and the Association of Hong Kong
Flag-guards Announce the Award Results for “$AVE to GIVE Loving
Piggy Bank Design Competition and Fundraising Campaign”
Hong Kong - 1 March, 2014 — Hotel Madera Hong Kong and the Association
of Hong Kong Flag-guards today announced the award results for “$AVE to GIVE
Loving Piggy Bank Design Competition and Fundraising Campaign”. Held at Sha
Tsui Road Playground in Tsuen Wan, the award presentation ceremony was
officiated by Ms. Florence Hui, SBS, JP, Under Secretary for Home Affairs
Bureau. The campaign was honored with an exceptional performance delivered
by The People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison, which prosperously
livened up the activity as a whole. Invited as an honorable guest, the campaign
ambassador Ms Bernice Liu had a sharing session with Ms. Man Yuk Ying, the
champion of the secondary section in “$AVE to GIVE Loving Piggy Bank Design
Competition” on-stage regarding Yuk Ying’s inspirations and thoughts while
designing her piggy bank.
“$AVE to GIVE” aims to foster students’ habit of saving, and to encourage the
public to save what they have and give to the needy as a way to pass on the
blessing. Hotel Madera Hong Kong and the Association of Hong Kong
Flag-guards distributed 5,000 pieces of lovely ivory piggy banks to kindergartens,
primary schools and secondary schools in Hong Kong since October 2013. The
“$AVE to GIVE Loving Piggy Bank Design Competition” aims to unleash students’
design creativity by creating their own unique piggy banks. In addition to the
glamorous display of the well-designed little piggy banks by student participants
for public appreciation, five gigantic piggy banks were placed at the Sha Tsui
Road Playground to collect donations from guests and visitors. All donations will
be allocated as fund for Association of Hong Kong Flag-guards’ future
development.

Hotel Madera Hong Kong and the Association of Hong Kong Flag-guards
presented the design awards to winners of the kindergarten, primary and
secondary sections respectively. “The huge success of ‘$AVE to GIVE Loving
Piggy Bank Design Competition and Fundraising Campaign’ was attributed to the
cooperation and the support from more than 40 schools,” said Mr. David Fong,
Managing Director of Hotel Madera Hong Kong. He stated, “Through this
campaign, Hotel Madera Hong Kong and the Association of Hong Kong
Flag-guards highlight the importance of saving and promote design creativity
among students. We aim to foster students’ habit of saving and promote the
message that it is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Mr. David Fong continued, “We aim to extend the positive influence to students’
families. Take a three-people household as an example, 5,000 students’
participation can motivate 15,000 citizens in total. Helping the needy as we can is
something that every one of us should do.”
