0. Introduction
This manual explains about the rules and data entry procedures set by Isuzu. Please use the following reference that explains the basic rules when creating an MDS in the IMDS system.  IMDS User Manual

1.2. Upon Receipt of Request
Upon receipt of request through the following process, create an MDS and submit it to Isuzu (CompanyID:22349).

In order for parts to fulfill regulatory requirements, Isuzu Purchasing Dept. or Sourcing Dept. will make a request to your Sales Dept. by e‐mail. Please create an MDS and submit it to Isuzu. Due date for final acceptance*1: Two months from the date requested

When the MDS approved by Isuzu in the past needs to be revised according to the latest IMDS rules, Isuzu Compliance and Certification Dept. will make a request to your Sales Dept. by e‐mail. Please create an MDS and submit it to Isuzu. Due date for final acceptance: One month from the date requested When the note stating “the restricted or reportable substances for parts shall be as specified in ISC‐A00‐008Y,” is listed on a parts drawing, please create an MDS and submit it to Isuzu. Parts with the above note may be subject to PPAP. Due date for final acceptance: By the first parts delivery
A due date for final approval may change from the dates stated above. Please check the due date stated in the e-mail
requesting the submission of MDS.
Please submit an MDS well in advance to allow time for accept process.
*1 Due date for final acceptance: The date by which an accept by Isuzu must be completed.

1.3. Handling of Isuzu‐Supplied Parts
★ Request to T1 Suppliers
If Isuzu‐supplied parts are a part of the part, fill out the required information in the “IMDS request Isuzu Supplying Parts Form”*2 and submit it to Isuzu Purchasing Operations Dept.
If the relevant MDS has been already obtained from Isuzu, there is no need to submit the form. ★ Request to T2 Suppliers
Create an MDS based on a request received from Isuzu and send it to Isuzu
(Company ID: 22349) by the due dates shown below:

: One week from the date requested A due date for final approval may change from the dates stated above. Please check the due date stated in the e‐mail requesting the submission of MDS. Please submit an MDS in advance to allow enough time for approval process.
*2 The “IMDS request Isuzu Supplying Parts Form” will be attached to the e‐mail requesting the submission of MDS. Should you require the form, please contact Isuzu Purchasing Operations Dept. 6
1.4. Notification of Accept / Reject
Upon review of MDS sent by the suppliers, Isuzu will email an “Information on our check result of your IMDS Data”*3 to notify the result (whether accept or reject) to you. The reason for reject will be explained in the attached file. Please see the column AB “Check result (Material/Substance)” and the column AC “Check result (Data form)” in the attached file, and make the necessary corrections and revisions accordingly.
<How to Correct and Revise MDS>
Increase a version number of the corresponding ID, when correcting or revising a data sheet.

3. Other Important Points
3.1. Materials used for Identification Marking
If paints, inks or tapes are used for identification marks, please make sure to include it in the MDS components. [Example]

3.2. Process Chemicals
Do not add the chemicals which are not included in the final product.  Examine the chemical composition in order to accurately state what chemicals are included in the material used for the final product.
 Create an MDS for paints, adhesives, etc. in the actual state (e.g. on a dry or hardened condition).  Refer to Rules 4.4.1.B and 4.4.1.C in Recommendation 001. Major Process Chemicals

3.3. Wildcard ‐ 10% Rule
The sum of wildcards or a confidential substances in the material composition of an MDS must not exceed 10% of a material.
 Refer to Rule 4.5.3.E in Recommendation 001.

3.4. Invalid Wildcard
Please do not use “not yet specified, not to declare”.  The above must not be used, because Isuzu collects data concerning only the materials for final products (i.e. mass‐production parts).  Refer to Rules 4.5.3.H in Recommendation 001.

3.5. BOM (Bill of Material)
With regard to assembled parts made of several components, ensure to create a component data sheet for each part in a tree structure.  Flat BOM reporting is allowed solely for electronic circuits.  Refer to Rules 5.2.A in Recommendation 001.

3.6. Classification of Plastic Materials
◇ How to select the IMDS material classification for polyurethanes
 Select either the material classification of 5.1.a or 5.1.b for thermoplastic polyurethane.  Select the material classification of 5.4.1 for thermosetting polyurethane. ◇ How to select the IMDS material classification for coating made from plastic
 Select the material classification of 6.1 for coating made from plastic. (Do not select 5.X.)
