Fakultät Informatik Institut für Technische Informatik, Professur für Rechnerarchitektur Diplomarbeit / Master Thesis Topic: Experimental Overhead Analysis of Dynamic Loop Scheduling Techniques Background: A rich source of parallelism in scientific applications are the loops representing the underlying numerical model. The single loop iterations are often independent from each other and can be executed in parallel. For a load balanced execution dynamic loop scheduling techniques can be applied. The use of DLS techniques is not restricted to loops, when iterations are viewed as independent tasks. Visualization of a simulation using dynamic loop scheduling for scheduling 1024 tasks to 32 processing elements Tasks: Development of a prototype of an MPI-based task scheduling system on ZIH’s high performance computing resources Experimental analysis of the behavior of the dynamic loop scheduling techniques applied in different application scenes Evaluation of the results and comparison to provided results achieved by simulations Language: Contact: Professor: german or english Franziska Hoffeins Willers-Bau, room A 108 [email protected] Prof. Dr. Wolfgang E.
