Selection and spread
of antibiotic resistances
in agro-ecosystems
and food production environments
Topics
The focus of the event will be the
exchange of current research results and
identification of knowledge gaps in the
complex field of selection and transmission
of antibiotic resistance in agricultural and
food systems. The three keynote speakers,
Dr Kornelia Smalla, Dr Fiona Walsh and
Dr Valeria Bortolaia will focus on the fate
of antibiotics and antibiotic resistances
in the course of application of manure
to agricultural soils, on environmental
selection and transfer of antibiotic
resistance as well as on human health risks
associated with transmission of resistant
bacteria from livestock. Additionally, we
will present preliminary results of the
Agroscope research program “REDYMO”,
which emphasizes on the reduction
and dynamics of antibiotic-resistant and
persistent microorganisms along the food
chain.
Audience
Agronomists, veterinarians, microbiologists,
environmental scientists and other
interested persons.

Attendance including conference material
is free of charge.
