Registration
Tax Credit
To register, you must be at least 16 years of age or have
written permission from a parent or guardian. Plan to register
early to ensure your place in the course and to allow us time to
order the materials your course requires.
You may be able to claim a lifetime learning credit of up to
$2,000 for qualified tuition and related expenses paid for
classes taken to improve job skills. For more information

Continuing Education Units
(CEUs)
CEUs are awarded to students who successfully complete their
course. CEUs are recognized nationally and are defined as 10
contact hours of class participation in an organized continuing
education program. Certificates are available for a fee for
students earning an “S” (satisfactory) in any occupational
advancement class. Certificates must be requested within 30
days of completion of class requirements.
Refund and Cancellation
Policy
All students withdrawing from a course or transferring to
another course must notify Aiken Technical College 72
hours before the course begins.
Students withdrawing from a course three or more days
before the course begins will receive an 85% refund of the
course fee.
No refunds will be given on or after the course start date.
Applicable college fees are non-refundable.
Military Spouses
The Department of Defense is now offering up to $4,000
for credit or non-credit career training to military spouses
who are interested in pursuing degree programs, licenses,
or credentials leading to careers in high growth, high
demand portable career fields.
Eligible spouses should establish a MyCAA account by
visiting the web site
https://aiportal.acc.af.mil/mycaa and follow the steps
online. Fort Gordon personnel may visit the Education
Center and pick up an information packet from Mr. Al

Dialysis Technician
Get started in this exciting and growing medical support
career! Learn to process, maintain, and dispense materials
and equipment required by medical personnel. Topics
include decontamination, cleaning, sterilization of surgical
instruments and supplies, packaging supplies, inventorying
and filing procedure and case charts, and more.
(100 hours includes 40 hours of required off-campus
clinical training.)
Learn to operate the machines that remove waste and
excess fluids from the blood of patients whose kidneys can
no longer carry out those functions.
Hospital Unit Clerk
Acquire medical terminology, charting and transcriptions,
family relations and the knowledge needed to function in
a hospital. (100 hours includes 30 hours of required offcampus clinical training)
Prerequisite: High school diploma or GED and basic
keyboarding/computer skills.
Dialysis technicians also carefully monitor and record
weight and vital signs before, during, and after the blood
cleansing procedures, and instruct patients about in-home
treatments.
This course will teach you the basics of renal failure and
renal replacement therapies, including hemodialysis. You
will learn the integral role Dialysis Technicians play in the
everyday care of the dialysis patient, how to perform labs,
draw blood and operate kidney dialysis machines.
Students who successfully complete this course, along
with a minimum of 6 months of work experience, may
be eligible to sit for the Certified Clinical Hemodialysis
Technician exam offered by the NNCC.
(120 hours includes 40 hours of required off-campus
clinical training)
Prerequisite: Phlebotomy training certificate and high
school diploma/GED.
Restorative Care
This course will help you perform the function of a Restorative Care Aid (RA). RAs are specialized workers that not
only perform the duties of a CNA, but also assist patients
with physical therapy and restorative care. RAs are particularly helpful in home care settings, or with individuals who
need short term therapeutic assistance after an injury or
surgery. RAs have a very flexible job description that covers
everything from in-home care to facility-based therapies.
(5 hours)
A $40 background check is required for most health programs and must be completed at ATC prior to the class start date. Students must also complete a
2-step PPD (TB skin test) and other immunizations as required. Clinical hours will be scheduled during daytime hours, and hours will vary by clinical site.

ALLIED HEALTH
HEALTHCARE PATHWAYS
ICD-10
This course will help you use the coding manuals, understand the coding guidelines, and accurately apply the ICD10 coding steps. The goal of this course is to prepare you
in transitioning from ICD-9-CM to ICD-10-CM, thus helping
you to prepare to code accurately and effectively using the
relevant medical terminology and anatomy. The ICD 10
program graduates will be eligible to take the certification
and registry examinations administered by the American
Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and
American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). (40
hours)
IV Therapy Skills
Focus on hands-on IV therapy skills and updates. You must
complete four successful IVs. Manual and lab supplies
included. (6 hours)
Prerequisite: Allied Health experience. Must be able to
perform venipuncture. (LPN, RN, CNA)
Pet Emergency Care
This course is designed for persons who desire to learn
the basics of emergency care and first aid for their pet,
and know what to do in different critical situations. Upon
successful completion of the course, students will be able
to demonstrate actions that need to be taken for heat
stroke, eye injuries, cuts, choking, and fractures.

Veterinary Assistant
As a veterinary assistant you will interact with clients and
their animals, assist the veterinarian and/or veterinary
technician during examinations, administer medications,
and perform other basic animal healthcare duties.

funders who are a good match for your organization.

The New Credential for HR Professionals
The new SHRM certification recognizes that HR
professionals are at the core of leading organizational
success. Take this up-to-date program to further develop
your HR knowledge and prepare yourself for the new
SHRM credentials - SHRM Certification Professional (SHRM
- CP) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM - SP).

Aiken Technical College’s Workplace Spanish is a series
of easy-to-use, job-specific, Spanish training programs
developed for workplace use. Need some help improving
communication, teamwork and efficiency with Spanishspeaking employees, customers, citizens or patients?
Workplace Spanish® is a series of easy-to-use, job-specific,
Spanish training programs developed for workplace use.
Instead of learning academic Spanish, which takes years
of study and practice to become proficient, Workplace
Spanish helps you communicate in brief, basic Spanish.
You learn to ask basic questions, greet customers, talk
with patients, or issue job commands. To make it as
easy as possible, our programs use “bite-size” terms &
phrases that do not require knowledge of grammar, verb
conjugations or complicated language rules.
Prerequisites: No prior Spanish experience is necessary.

First Year Sales: Pre-License
Take the first step to list, sell, purchase, exchange, lease,
or dispose of real estate in the state of South Carolina.
To qualify for licensure you must have a satisfactory
credit report, proof of completion of at least 60 hours of
approved classroom instruction, and a passing score on
the exam. Topics include real estate sales, real property
law, agency and federal/state laws and regulations, pricing
real property, contracts, finance and math. Prerequisite:
High school diploma or GED; must be at least 18 years old.

Post License
Successfully meet the new requirements developed by
the South Carolina LLR Real Estate Commission and get
on your way to success in your chosen profession of real
estate. (30 hours)
Property Management
This course is required by the SC Real Estate Commission
to receive a property management license. It includes
property management laws, rental agreements, tenant
relations and insurance. (30 hours)
Prerequisite: High school diploma or GED; must be at least

ATC has the business software skills to help you increase your
productivity at the office.
We also offer several online options for a variety of computer skills through our online partners JER and Ed2Go. You can find a

Computer Training
A+
This course will help you gain the skills and knowledge to build, upgrade, optimize, trouble shoot, and repair personal
computer systems.
Prerequisites: End-user skills with Windows®-based personal computers, including the ability to: browse and search for
information on the Internet; start up, shut down, and log on to a computer and network; run programs; and move, copy, delete,
and rename files in Windows Explorer. Basic knowledge of computing concepts, including the difference between hardware
and software; the functions of software components, such as the operating system, applications, and file systems; and the
function of a computer network. Introductory course in a Windows operating system, or equivalent skills and knowledge, is
required. Students can take any one of the following Element K courses: Introduction to Personal Computers: Using Windows
XP or Introduction to Personal Computers: Using Windows Vista™. The following Element K courses are recommended:
Windows XP: Introduction or Microsoft® Windows Vista™: Level 1. (98 hours)
QuickBooks 2010 Introduction
This course is designed for persons who have no prior knowledge of how to use QuickBooks, and for those who are familiar
with the software and want to learn more about the new features and functionality. Upon successful completion of this course,
students will be able to explore the QuickBooks interface, familiarize themselves with the application, set up a company and
update the Chart of Accounts, build and manage lists, manage inventory, record a product sale, create an invoice for services,
and work with bank accounts. (8 hours)
Prerequisite: Students need to have a basic understanding of computer operation.
QuickBooks 2010 Advanced
This course is designed for users or accounting professionals who want to use the advanced productivity and creative features
of QuickBooks 2010. Upon successful completion of this course, students will examine how to use the advanced features in
QuickBooks to create estimates, convert estimates into invoices, process sales tax and payroll, generate reports, review client
data, and work with other applications. (8 hours)
Prerequisite: Students need to have a basic understanding of computer operation and have completed the QuickBooks ®2010

Defensive Driving
Are you interested in the
open road? ATC has defensive
driving and motorcycle safety
courses!
Intermediate Motorcycle
Being a defensive driver is very important and you never
want to reach more than 12 points on your driving record.
When your point total reaches more than 12, your driver’s
license will be automatically suspended. The state requires
you to surrender your license to the DMV within a certain
time period, or you will face hefty fines and possible jail
time.
If you’ve had points added to your driver’s license due to
driving violations you can remove four points with this
course, which can only be taken once every three years.
(8 hours)
Must have Learner’s Permit for at least 60 days or a
valid motorcycle license. Must have an insured and fully
registered street legal motorcycle. (12 hours)
Experienced Motorcycle
Must have a valid motorcycle Learner’s Permit for at least
60 days. Must have proof of successful completion of a
previous motorcycle course. Must have an insured and fully
registered street legal motorcycle. (8 hours)

Forklift Operator
Welding Certification
Learn regulatory overview, engineering principles, operator
responsibilities, safety operating rules, maintenance and
inspections. (12 hours)
Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) MIG
Hobby & Small Shop Welding
This course is designed for the beginning student welder
to learn how to safely and effectively use an oxy-acetylene
cutting torch, plasma torch, and have an overview of the
following welding procedures (SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW).
Upon successful completion of this course, students will
learn the various basic welding techniques and how they
can be applied to basic welding projects such as metal
sculpture, auto repair, and metal fence building. (48 hours)
Stick Welding (SMAW)
This course is designed for persons who desire to learn the
Shielded Metal Arc Welding or Stick Welding process that
uses a consumable electrode coated in flux to lay the weld.
Students will learn safety and health awareness, the basic
units of measurement, and be introduced to blueprint
reading.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will
study and practice basic welding principles involving
Thermal Cutting Processes, Drawing and Welding Symbol
Interpretation, and Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) in all
positions. (75 hours)
Train using GMAW (MIG) and master the art of fusing
metal to metal with intense heat created by an electric arc.
The course also covers shop safety and health, drawing
and welding symbols, thermal cutting processes, and
welding inspection and testing. Successful completion
prepares you to take the American Welding Society (AWS)
SENSE Level 1 Entry Welder certification exam. Students
can be assured the training they receive is based on
national standards and guidelines.
Note: Cotton long sleeve shirt, long pants, and leather
boots are required. (The lab is part of the certification for
GMAW MIG) (125 hours)
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding
(GTAW) Basic TIG
Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), also known as tungsten
inert gas (TIG) welding, is an arc welding process that uses
a tungsten electrode to produce the weld. Build on your
basic welding skills and knowledge with this course on TIG
welding.
Note: Cotton long sleeve shirt, long pants, and leather
boots are required.
This course includes an intro to TIG welding, lab safety and
practical hands-on demonstration and practice to hone
your skills. (75 hours)

What is SCMC?
SCMC is an entry-level Advanced Manufacturing Certification
scholarship. The scholarship consists of 200 hours of state-funded
training in the following areas

which lead to MSSC Certified Production Technician certification.
Who qualifies for this scholarship?

Qualified applicants are unemployed or underemployed residents
of South Carolina and are looking to start a career in advanced
manufacturing.
