Job offer: PhD position in Economics 2016-07-25 The Walter Eucken Institute, Freiburg, invites applications for a PhD position (75-100%) (Wissenschaftliche(r) Mitarbeiter(in)) The contract will start in fall 2016 and is limited to 3 years with the possibility of extension. The Walter Eucken Institute cooperates with the University of Freiburg (in particular, the Department for Economic Policy and Institutional Economics); depending on the resources and requirements the position may involve partial employment at both institutions. The successful candidate will perform research in microeconomics, with a focus on behavioral economics. He/She will write a PhD thesis on a self-determined topic. As a PhD student of the University of Freiburg it is possible to participate in the PhD courses of the Universities of Strassbourg, Basel, KIT Karlsruhe, Colmar and Mulhouse. Extensive contacts within our national and international research network offer the opportunity to get involved in the international research environment at an early stage of the career. While the focus will be on research, the successful candidate will also be involved in teaching and conference organization. Applicants require an excellent degree in economics, a sound knowledge of quantitative and experimental methods, and are interested in microeconomics, in particular behavioral and experimental economics. We welcome applications from graduates with a diploma or a master’s degree in economics. Fluency in English is required; command of German is appreciated.
