Verb stem + たいです

Take a look at the different particles
〜たいです
Particles?
私はハンバーガーをたべたいです。
私はハンバーガーがたべたいです。
Both が and を are fine in front of 〜たい
But for other particles such as に
日本にいきたいです。
Use the particles regularly.

Does not matter if it is a る or う verb, drop the ます,
to the stem
〜たい then conjugates as an いadj →
add たいです

Use が or を for sentences before Verb stemたい (

What about wishes held by others?
〜たいです is usually used for oneself, but not for others.
ハンバーガーをたべたいと言っていました。
He said he wants to eat it… we ok. But what about this scenario?

Verb stem +たがっています
looks like they want to (verb)
Comes from う verb たがる, but generally is in てform with いる
at end, so conjugate the いる。
Unlike 〜たい, you only use the particle を, so が is not
interchangeable.
Conjugate at 〜います。
（います；いません…)

Translate these sentences:
John looks like he wants to watch a movie.
ジョンさんはえいがをみたがっています。
Takeshi wants to ask Mary a question.
たけしさんはメアリーさんにしつもんをききたがっています。
Kimiko looked like she wanted to dance, but she didn’t.
きみこさんはおどりたがっていたけど、しませんでした。
〜たり〜たりする
としょかんに行って、べんきょうしました。
I went to the library, and (then) studied. (in that order)
イタリアに行って、かいものをして、コロシアムをみて、
おいしいたべものをたべました。
I went to Italy, shopped, saw the Colosseum, and ate delicious
food.
What about if you don’t care about the order, but just want to say
things you did?
イタリアに行って、かいものをしたり、コロシアムをみた
り、おいしいたべものをたべたりしました。
I went to Italy and did such things as shopping, saw the
Colosseum, and ate delicious food. (no particular order, list)
〜たり〜たりする
春休みの時、うちでゲームをしたり、
たべたり、ねたりしました。
(Activity 1, verb stem)たり、…, (last activity, verb stem)たりする。
This is convenient for making a list of things that you did, but not
bound by any particular order.
