Marcel W. Schmid
Education
Marcel W. Schmid obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the
International Institute of Management Development (IMD) Lausanne. He also earned a
Bachelor’s degree from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences. More recently, he attended
a senior management course at Stanford University.
Professional experience
Marcel W. Schmid began his career in 1990 at Ernst & Young, where he spent four years in
M&A and corporate finance in Switzerland and the USA.

is married and has
two children.
He was born in
Switzerland in 1965.
From 1996 to 2005, he was with UBS Investment Bank. During this period he headed the
Swiss Initial Public Offering (IPO) and later the Swiss Equity Advisory teams. Promoted to
Managing Director in 2003, he was the project leader for numerous cross-border transactions for both Swiss and non-Swiss companies. His responsibilities included, inter alia, the
delivery of investment banking services to companies in a variety of industries (e.g. healthcare, technology, media, capital goods, etc.). His experience encompassed transactions in
mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, secondary public offerings, and private
equity placements.
From 2005 to 2007, Marcel W. Schmid was a member of the Executive Board of the St.Galler
Kantonalbank Group. He was both Head of Private Banking as well as CEO of the bank’s
Private Bank. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Swisscanto.
Marcel W. Schmid joined DKSH on January 1, 2009, as Head Corporate Affairs, where he
is responsible for Corporate Legal, Governance, Risk & Compliance, and Country Organizations.
