Du interessierst Dich für das aktuelle gesellschaftliche Geschehen in den Mitgliedsstaaten der
Afrikanischen Union? Du willst auf einer Konferenz-Simulation dein Wissen zur politischen Position
eines ausgewählten afrikanischen Landes erweitern und dabei dein diplomatisches Können
beweisen? Dann bieten wir Dir jetzt die Möglichkeit, Dich bei der ersten „Model African Union“ (MAU)
in Deutschland zu bewerben und als Delegate Teil eines der Kommissions-Teams zu werden oder als
Chair deine eigene Kommission zu leiten! Vom 21. - 24. April 2016 findet die Model African Union
Konferenz zu dem Thema „Towards a peaceful, prosperous and more integrated Africa” an der
Universität Bayreuth statt.
Bei der MAU wird ähnlich dem Konzept der Model United Nations die Afrikanische Union simuliert.
Das heißt für die 70-80 Konferenzteilnehmer*innen, dass sie sich in die spezifische Positionierung
eines afrikanischen Landes, das sie vertreten, einarbeiten, um auf dem politischen Parkett seine
Interessen zu vertreten. Diskutiert und debattiert wird innerhalb der folgenden drei Kommissionen:
1. The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR)
Themen:
A. Abolition of the death penalty in Africa
B. FGM - a violation of women's rights
2. The Peace and Security Council (PSC)
Themen:
A. Disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration in conflict areas
B. Combating international crime in Africa and through African channels
3. The Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECSOCC)
Themen:
A. Elaboration of energy generation and distribution infrastructures
B. Improvement of inter-African trade and creation of an economic union
Als Ergebnis werden politische Resolutionen verabschiedet. Entscheide Dich, mitzuwirken und erhalte
als Teilnehmer tiefgreifendes Wissen über die tatsächlichen Arbeitsmechanismen der Afrikanischen
Union, sowie ein Zertifikat, das Deine gewonnene Erfahrung bestätigt.
Das Großereignis „Model African Union Konferenz” ist eine herausragende Erfahrung, die jeder
Abiturient, Student oder Absolvent mit verhandlungssicheren Englischkenntnissen als Delegate
wahrnehmen kann. Als Chair benötigt man zusätzlich vorausgegangene Erfahrung durch eine
Simulations-Konferenz. Das Bewerbungsportal als Chair steht bis zum 25. März, als Delegate bis

Ongoing Application Process For The “First Model African Union Conference”
In Germany
Dear prospective Delegates and Chairs,
You are interested in the current events going on in the member states of the African Union? You want
to expand your knowledge about the policies in an African country and demonstrate your diplomatic
skills at a conference simulation? We offer you the opportunity to become part of the very first “Model
African Union” (MAU) in Germany and to participate as a delegate in a commission of your choice or
as a chair managing your own commission! From the 21st to the 24th April 2016, the first MAU
conference to be held in Germany will take place at the University of Bayreuth on the topic
"Towards a peaceful, prosperous and more integrated Africa".
The MAU is a simulation of a plenary session of the African Union similar to the concept of Model
United Nations. As one of 70-80 conferees you will learn about the specific policies of the African
Union member state you represent and advocate its position on the political stage. You will discuss
and debate in one of three following three committees:
1. The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR)
Topics:
A. Abolition of the death penalty in Africa
B. FGM - a violation of women's rights
2. The Peace and Security Council (PSC)
Topics:
A. Disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration in conflict areas
B. Combating international crime in Africa and through African channels
3. The Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECSOCC)
Topics:
A. Elaboration of energy generation and distribution infrastructures
B. Improvement of inter-African trade and creation of an economic union
Subsequently, resolutions will be adopted. Decide to participate and gain profound knowledge of the
process mechanisms in the African Union as well as a certificate acknowledging your work and
confirming your experience.
If you are a high school, college or university student or graduate over 16 years old with a good
command of English, apply now and ensure your position as a delegate! To apply as a chair, you will
need to have some experience gained from a previous simulation or similar conference in addition.

For applications as Chair - 25 March 2016
For applications as Delegate - 4 April 2016
