I can’t do it alone and am constantly impressed with the volunteers and the help they are willing to supply. The spirit of Christmas is particularly strong and the willingness of our members to participate in the Club’s charitable activities is very admirable. You are probably familiar with the many activities of the Club during the holiday, and I would encourage you to attend and enjoy these programs especially the children’s Christmas party where the Weihnactsman – known as Santa Claus here in the USA – will make an appearance. It’s also a good time to take a break from your holiday shopping and come with your family Sundays or Thursdays for a good meal at the club. I hope I will see many if not all of you in the coming weeks, but in the meantime I would like for myself and the directors and staff of the Cannstatter to wish one and all eine Frohe Weihnachten und ein gleuckliches, erfolgreiches Neues Jahr – Merry Christmas and a happy, successful New Year. Willi Willi Glaeser, President Upcoming Events - Veranstaltungskalender Winter 2015-2016 December/Dezember 2015 Sunday/Sonntag 20 Cannstatter Children’s Christmas Party - The Children’s Christmas Party will be in the Crystal Ballroom. A Magic Show at 3:00 PM will be followed by the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus. There will be a gift for all members’ children and grandchildren 12 years old and under. You must bring your member card to receive a gift. The dining room will be open from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Friday/Freitag 25 Christmas Day. Merry Christmas to everyone! The Club is closed on Christmas Day. Thursday/Donnerstag 31 New Year’s Eve Party at Cannstatter - Join us for our celebration of New Year’s Eve. The party starts at 8:00 PM with an open bar, great dinner and all the trimmings. The band for the night will be the Monday Blues Jazz Orchestra. Champagne Toast at 12 Midnight. Tickets are $70.00 per person for members and $80.00 for non-members. See the ad on Page 3 January/Januar 2016 Friday/Freitag 1 Happy New Year! The club will be closed New Year’s Day. February/Februar 2016 Friday/Freitag 5 Venison Dinner - Join us for our Annual Members Venison Dinner. The Dinner is free to all Club members and their Families with their membership card. The Cost is $15.00 for non-members. Doors open at 6 PM. May you and your families have a great holiday season. 4 Holiday/2015-16 A Letter from the Editor Christmas & New Year are very special times of the year at the Cannstatter. It is when we give thanks to all of our members for all the things they do to make our Club Great. The Christmas season began early this year with our annual German Language Christmas Show which took place on the Sunday right after Thanksgiving. As always the show was well attended and the performers got us all into the Christmas spirit. What some may not realize is that the Board of Directors and their wives spent hours putting up Christmas decorations only days after Thanksgiving so all the rooms would give those who attended the Christmas Show the perfect Holiday atmosphere. The Club thanks them for give their time. Our next big event is the Children’s Christmas Party. This year the party will take place on Sunday, December 20th. The show starts at 3 PM with a little Magic for the Children followed by the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus. All members, children and grandchildren will receive a gift from Santa if they attend. Please make sure that you bring your membership card so Santa knows who is to receive gifts. The Club will be open for dinner on that day from 1 AM to 7 PM. The Cannstatter will be closed for the Christmas Holiday from Christmas Eve through Sunday, December 27th so our Management gets some time to spend with their families. On Thursday the 31st of December the Club celebrates New Year’s Eve with a grand party. The evening begins with a great buffet and open bar along with music by the Monday Blues Jazz Orchestra. The highlight of the evening will be a Champagne Toast at midnight. If you would like to attend please call the Club to reserve your seats. Space is limited so get your tickets soon. This year the Holiday Season caught up with me so quickly that I was unable to handle an entire newsletter and still complete all my holiday duties. My answer was this short Holiday Newsletter. Don’t worry there will be a Winter Newsletter to follow. I’m working on it right now. As always that newsletter will include dates for our membership meeting, elections, Venison Dinner and of course our always popular Cannstatter Banquet and Easter Sunday Dinner.
