In recognition of this year’s motto, the emphasis will be on breaking down both mental and
geographical barriers. Business angels and startups regularly cross these barriers. It
represents the individual drive to change, advance, develop, and create.
The location of Carinthia as a venue takes advantage of the close vicinity to Slovenia und
Italy, erases geographic barriers, and supports increased integration of the Alps-Adriatic
region. This will strengthen the connections between the business angel activities in Austria,
Italy and Slovenia, as well as open new doors for startups and business angels.

This is where the fifth Austrian casino opened on July 14, 1950. By successfully combining

Pitch Contest 2015
We are looking for the best startups of the Alps-Adriatic-Region...
... and are calling up entries - all in the spirit of this year‘s event –
to a Pitch Contest across all borders in Austria, Italy and Slovenia!
Participation is easy - record a creative, three minute long pitch
video, fill out the entry form, provide the link to the video and you
are ready to compete against startups from three countries!

Pitch final and live pitching: The top 30 startups will qualify for the pitch final within the
framework of the AUSTRIAN BUSINESS ANGEL Day 2015 and will compete in front of a
jury for the chance to pitch live in front of investors.
InvestorStar Award 2015: Five startups will be selected by the jury for live pitching and will
receive, if requested, a final session of pitch coaching. At the conclusion of the live pitching
the InvestorStar Award 2015 winner will be selected by public vote. A surprise is waiting in
the wings for the winner!
Startup-Exhibition: The top 30 will also receive a chance to present their startup at their
own booth within the framework of the Startup-Exhibition.
All-inclusive: Participation in all events of the function, including diverse networking breaks,
as well as the evening events including dinner and the presentation of the Angel awards, is
of course offered at no cost to the top 30 startups. Participation is requested!
Participation
Any company founded, or in the process of being founded, in Austria or in a country
bordering Austria, is eligible to participate, regardless of the legal format of the business.
Participation from all areas is encouraged - we are looking for exciting innovation, creative
business models and extraordinary presentations.
Previous participation or taking part in the events in the past does not rule out new
participation. The same is true for taking part in other competitions at the same time.
Entries will be judged on an online entry form as well as a
creative three-minute long pitch video in German or English in
which the company presents itself (team, idea and product).
The complete online entry form must be submitted by July 10, 2015.
Should entries prove to be false or misleading, elimination from
the contest may be the result.
All submissions will be reviewed by a selected independent jury
and will be evaluated according to set criteria independent of one
another. The jury reserves the right to decide based on their
independent evaluations and will provide a short rationale of the decision.
Participants will be informed of the top 30 startups after final review of the jury valuations.
This will take place via email in early August 2015.
The judge‘s decision is final.
