THE LIFE AND CULTURE OF SAMURAI LORDS:
MASTERWORKS FROM THE TOKUGAWA MUSEUM
The Tokugawa Art Museum published a new English book, entitled "The Life and Culture of Samurai Lords:
Masterworks from the Tokugawa Art Museum".
Based on the Japanese guidebook of the Museum, the new book introduces traditional Japanese culture through art works
of arms & armor, chanoyu, noh and kyōgen, items used in official chambers as well as private rooms, which embodies
daimyō's life and culture. With introductory chapters on Japanese history, Edo period, shogun and daimyō, the book also
gives a handy guide to the Japanese history prior to Meiji westernization. This book is now available at the Museum
Shop as well as at the on-line shop of the Museum. (1500yen)
