Apostle's Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his
only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered
under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. On the third
day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and
he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic
Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and
the life everlasting. Amen.

<Offering>
The Bible teaches that tithing is a part of worship and it’s a responsibility of each believer
(Malachi 3:10). It also says, “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to
give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver (II Cor. 9:6-7).”
We don’t pass around the offering basket since we don’t want anyone who is not able to
give for some reason to feel pressure or awkward (especially for visitors). We also would
like everyone to do it spontaneously. Please put the offerings in the box on the counter.
Meaningful tribulations (2 Thessalonians 1:1-12)
The Words for yourchurch 2015 (John 14:6-14)
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the
Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as
well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." Philip said, "Lord, show
us the Father and that will be enough for us." Jesus answered: "Don't you know
me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has
seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, `Show us the Father'? (6-9)
Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I
say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing
his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or
at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. (10, 11)
I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He
will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will
do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the
Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. (12-14)

苦難が意味を持つテサロニケの信徒への⼿手紙2 1:1-‐‑‒12 永原アンディユアチャーチ 2015年年の聖書の⾔言葉葉（ヨハネによる福⾳音書14:6-‐‑‒14）
イエスは言われた。「わたしは道であり、真理であり、命である。わたしを通らなけ
れば、だれも父のもとに行くことができない。あなたがたがわたしを知っているな
ら、わたしの父をも知ることになる。今から、あなたがたは父を知る。いや、既に父
を見ている。」フィリポが「主よ、わたしたちに御父をお示しください。そうすれば満
足できます」と言うと、イエスは言われた。「フィリポ、こんなに長い間一緒にいるの
に、わたしが分かっていないのか。わたしを見た者は、父を見たのだ。なぜ、『わ
たしたちに御父をお示しください』と言うのか。(6-9)
わたしが父の内におり、父がわたしの内におられることを、信じないのか。わたし
があなたがたに言う言葉は、自分から話しているのではない。わたしの内におられ
る父が、その業を行っておられるのである。わたしが父の内におり、父がわたしの
内におられると、わたしが言うのを信じなさい。もしそれを信じないなら、業そのも
のによって信じなさい。(10, 11)
はっきり言っておく。わたしを信じる者は、わたしが行う業を行い、また、もっと大き
な業を行うようになる。わたしが父のもとへ行くからである。わたしの名によって願う
ことは、何でもかなえてあげよう。こうして、父は子によって栄光をお受けになる。
わたしの名によって何かを願うならば、わたしがかなえてあげよう。」(12-14)

A. Meaningful suffering and meaningless suffering
1) The suffering of those who are walking toward God's kingdom (1-5)
Summary
Following Jesus is not easy. Persecution and opposition will continue until
the end. For those whose sole purpose in life is worldly success and selfactualization, followers of Jesus are bothersome. As followers of Jesus, we
may not attain worldly wealth or acclaim, but that is not the reward that we
seek. What we seek is to answer God's invitation to change according to his
will. To this end, God gives us the desire to seek what is good and right and
completes the work he started in us.

1) Why do followers of Jesus face opposition and persecution?
2) What reward does God prepare for us?

B. The reward of those who walk toward God's kingdom (10-12)
1 Paul, Silas and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God our
Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
2 Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because
your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for
each other is increasing.
4 Therefore, among God's churches we boast about your perseverance and
faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring.
5 All this is evidence that God's judgment is right, and as a result you will
be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.
6 God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you
7 and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will
happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his
powerful angels.
8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of
our Lord Jesus.
9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the
presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power
10 on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be
marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because
you believed our testimony to you.
11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count
you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good
purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.
12 We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you,
and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus
Christ.

苦難が意味を持つ A.意味のある苦しみと無意味な苦しみ 1) 神の国を⽬目指す者の苦しみ (1-‐‑‒5) 永原アンディ
メッセージのポイントイエスに従って歩むことは、決して平坦な道ではありません。迫害、妨害は最後ま
で続きます。この世での成功、自己実現を求める者たちにとって、イエスに従う者
の存在は目障りなのです。イエスに従う者は、この世界での富や名声を手に入れ
ることが出来ないかもしれません。それらは私達が求める報いではありません。私
たちが求めるのは、神の招きに相応しい者と変えられることです。それに近づくた
めに神様は私たちの内に善を求めるあらゆる願いと信仰の働きを成就させてくだ
さいます。
話し合いのために 1) なぜイエスに従う者は迫害、苦難を受けるのでしょうか？ 2) 神様はどのような報いを用意していてくださるのでしょうか？
2) 背いて⽣生きる者の苦しみ (6-‐‑‒9) B. 神の国を⽬目指す者への報い (10-‐‑‒12) パウロ、シルワノ、テモテから、わたしたちの父である神と主イエス・キリストに結ば
れているテサロニケの教会へ。わたしたちの父である神と主イエス・キリストからの
恵みと平和が、あなたがたにあるように。兄弟たち、あなたがたのことをいつも神に
感謝せずにはいられません。また、そうするのが当然です。あなたがたの信仰が
大いに成長し、お互いに対する一人一人の愛が、あなたがたすべての間で豊か
になっているからです。それで、わたしたち自身、あなたがたが今、受けているあり
とあらゆる迫害と苦難の中で、忍耐と信仰を示していることを、神の諸教会の間で
誇りに思っています。これは、あなたがたを神の国にふさわしい者とする、神の判
定が正しいという証拠です。あなたがたも、神の国のために苦しみを受けているの
です。(1-5)
神は正しいことを行われます。あなたがたを苦しめている者には、苦しみをもって
報い、また、苦しみを受けているあなたがたには、わたしたちと共に休息をもって
報いてくださるのです。主イエスが力強い天使たちを率いて天から来られるとき、
神はこの報いを実現なさいます。主イエスは、燃え盛る火の中を来られます。そし
て神を認めない者や、わたしたちの主イエスの福音に聞き従わない者に、罰をお
与えになります。彼らは、主の面前から退けられ、その栄光に輝く力から切り離さ
れて、永遠の破滅という刑罰を受けるでしょう。(6-9)
かの日、主が来られるとき、主は御自分の聖なる者たちの間であがめられ、また、
すべて信じる者たちの間でほめたたえられるのです。それは、あなたがたがわた
したちのもたらした証しを信じたからです。このことのためにも、いつもあなたがた
のために祈っています。どうか、わたしたちの神が、あなたがたを招きにふさわし
いものとしてくださり、また、その御力で、善を求めるあらゆる願いと信仰の働きを
成就させてくださるように。それは、わたしたちの神と主イエス・キリストの恵みによ
って、わたしたちの主イエスの名があなたがたの間であがめられ、あなたがたも主
によって誉れを受けるようになるためです。(10-12)
