【小学１年部門暗唱文】 When Monsters Go to Costume Parties ① We all know what a costume party is like. Of course we do! ② Everyone dresses up as something they are not—a pirate, a king, a princess or a monster. ③ Dressing up as a monster is especially good fun—you can make loud noises and be rude and blame it all on the monster. ④ But wait! What do monsters wear when they go to a costume party? ⑤ Do they dress up like us? ⑥ Do they put on their best clothes and think of polite things to say to each other? ⑦ Do they make sure that they are well-mannered, eat delicately, and dance modestly? ⑧ Oh no! Monsters are not good at pretending. ⑨ They gulp down their food in huge mouthfuls and drop it all over the floor. ⑩ When they dance they leap about and stamp the floor until it shakes. ⑪ They hate playing musical chairs because they slip and fall on the messy floor where they spill all the food and all their drinks. ⑫ They clumsily break the glasses and plates. They make a horrible mess! ⑬ So monsters might go to a party dressed like us, but they cannot hide what’s inside. ⑭ They behave in a monstrous way—which I am sure you never do, do you? 【次のページに訳文があります】 【１年生部門暗唱文】－訳文 モンスターがかそうパーティーにいったなら ① かそうパーティがなにかしってるよね。もちろんだよ！ ② みんないしょうをきて、じぶんとちがうものになるんだ。かいぞくや、おうさま、おひ めさまや、モンスター。 ③ とくにモンスターにかそうするのはとってもたのしい。うるさいおともたてられるし、 いたずらもしちゃうんだ。ぜんぶモンスターだからってことにしちゃってさ。 ④ でもまって、モンスターがかそうパーティにいくときは、なにをきるんだろう？ ⑤ にんげんになるのかな？ ⑥ いちばんいいふくをきて、おたがいにじょうひんにはなしあうのかな？ ⑦ ぎょうぎよく、きれいにごはんをたべて、じょうひんにダンスをするのかな？ ⑧ いっけない！モンスターはまねするのがへただった。 ⑨ モンスターは、たべものをガブガブくちにいっぱい入れて、ゆかにボロボロこぼし ちゃう。 ⑩ ダンスをするときはゆかがぐらぐらするまで、とんだりはねたりする。 ⑪ から、イスとりゲームがきらいなんだよ。 ⑫ また、ぶきようだからガラスのおさらとかコップをわっちゃって、とんでもないぐらい きたなくしちゃうんだよ。 ⑬ だから、モンスターがにんげんにかそうすることもあるだろうけど、すぐにばれちゃ うんだ。 ⑭ モンスターはほんとうにひどいことをするもんだ。－ まさかきみはそんなことした ことないよね？
