GERMAN IMMERSION COURSE
FOR STUDENTS IN MASTER’S DEGREE
PROGRAMMES
International students enrolled in a Master’s degree programme at the JKU may register to attend a
“German Immersion Language Course”. Students can attain a B2+ level of German within 2
semesters. The full-time, two-semester course (30 ECTS credits) begins in October 2015.
International students enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Diploma degree programme may also register for
the course provided there are open spots available.
Who is eligible?
Students who have been officially admitted to a Master’s degree programme at the JKU and wish
to learn German intensively in order to
1) speed-up the start of their studies in a German-language degree programme at JKU
2) increase job prospects in Upper Austria after graduating from an English-language Master’s
degree programme.
General Requirements
1) Please submit a copy of the official admission letter to a Master’s degree programme at the JKU

for a programme beginning either in 2015 or March 2016.
A fee of €500 to be paid at the beginning of each semester.
Students (only “außerordentliche Hörer”) will not be required to pay additional tuition fees while
enrolled in the German Immersion Course
The course is full-time (30 ECTS credits per semester) and 100% attendance is mandatory.
The course is demanding and students should be willing to put forth the time and effort
required in order to attain a B2+ level German in just two semesters. We recommend taking
no more than 2 additional courses from your Master’s degree programme.
Successful completion of the course will be accepted by the JKU as equivalent to a B2+ level of
German.

Deadline
Application Deadline for the summer term 2016 is February 15th. A positive certificate of A2.2 is
required to start the intensive course in March.
