The 1st Corporate Games was held this march with 98 corporations, 1516 athletes (10 countries, 296 international athletes). All participants have enjoyed and were very impressed on the sporting events, parade, party and awards celebrations. We would like to cherish the bond that was recognized thought the sports and communication within the Corporate Games. I am the Mayor of Chatan-Town, Masaharu Noguni. With the blessed mild climate many people attended the Okinawa Corporate Games 2015 and enjoyed the networking through sports. There is a Okinawa proverb, “Ichariba-chode” which means, “Once we meet we are all brothers” and as represented in this phrase, there are strong horizontal ties in Okinawa which also represents the warmth of Okinawa people. The hospitality that the Okinawans originally have and holding the event meets the regional characteristics as thought in the concepts of Corporate Games. I am hoping that many people will gather in Okinawa with the slogan of “Haisai!” and the circle of friends of Corporate Games will spread in the world with the Okinawa Corporate Games 2016. Championship Division Awards Games Points determine the winners based on the Organisation’s overall team size. We were very surprised by the fact that so many participants came across from overseas and represented so many different types of company. We think it is a magnificent event where you can exchange ideas with other businesses, and the wide age ranges also allow people to exchange views with colleagues who they may not usually interact with. We already have some employees planning for next year’s Corporate Games! We would like to thank you for providing this great opportunity to us and wish the Games hosts the best of luck in continuing to build this great fun event to a huge scale. We have proudly taken part in world’s largest corporate sport event, inaugural to Okinawa. Our team featured over 100 employees and our business partners also entered into the events. After making the commitment to enter, we began practicing each sport by working with our team leaders. This helped us to improve our skills and strengthened our team bonding. We believe that the Corporate Games is the perfect event to benefit those who have limited exchanges together other than work. We believe the Games has the power to develop organizational communication, through playing sports as a team and getting together and learning about each other in different surroundings than the office. We have received plenty of positive feedback that said ‘I Had a great time’. Thank you to the team of hosts and staff who ran the event for providing an amazing opportunity. 137 of AIG Japan Group employees (including representatives from the Naha site of American Home, AIU, Fuji Fire and Marine department) participated in the Okinawa Corporate Games. The Games gave us the opportunity to develop communication among the employees as well as promoting communication beyond the group. This was one of our key objectives. As you would expect it was not easy for employees who had never played sport to win medals. However, we all enjoyed the team working and the cheerful atmosphere regardless of our sporting ability. The Games has helped us to enhance our positive working environment and to develop collaborations between employees on a daily basis. We have really appreciated the opportunity to enter the Okinawa Corporate Games. It was first time that we entered the Games as a Japanese subsidiary. We haven’t had an opportunity for in-house exchanges with colleagues and the liaisons have tended to be only formal and business-like previously. The Games has given us the opportunity to get together socially as employees and increase morale through bowling and the other events at the Corporate Games. In addition to this, we were able to actively promote our products to the other companies that were participating. We really appreciated this opportunity to interact with the other companies and athletes through the Games. Although we sampled participation this year we will be well-prepared with more colleagues than before and we are determined to be significantly involved in the Games future success. On daily basis we work in different departments with distance from other offices, our gathering early in the morning, we were excited to see the new uniform worn. We were able to sense the fresh feeling that was not regularly experienced in the office, during the event we were able to enjoy and cheer each other. The teamwork that was achieved thought the sweats, sports and communication was made strong thought the Corporate Games event.
