（Kenji）が，英語の授業で，インターネットの使用につい

Akiko: Hi, everyone. We can get a lot of information on the
Internet. When I didn’t have a computer, I usually went to the city
library. It takes thirty minutes to walk there. Now in thirty minutes, I
can get a lot of information through the Internet. And I can send
*e-mails to my friends. When I didn’t have a computer, it took about ten
days to get an answer from a friend in America. Now I can get an answer

than before. It takes only a day. So the Internet is very useful.
There is another good thing about the Internet. My mother is very busy. I help her when I
have time. But she sometimes says she is very tired. Two weeks ago my friend said to me, “I went
shopping in Morioka with my mother to buy CDs yesterday.” I wanted to go shopping with my
mother like my friend. But I couldn’t tell my mother to go out with me because I knew she had
many things to do and I wanted her to *rest at home. But now my mother and I enjoy buying our
favorite things on the Internet. My mother also uses the Internet to get train *tickets for her work. She doesn’t have to go to the station to buy tickets. The Internet has given us better lives than before. I think the Internet is very useful, so people
need it for their lives.
Kenji: Hi, everyone. I know we can get a lot of information and ideas from the Internet. I
learned different ways of thinking and living. But when I *made a speech in English class three months ago, I *had a hard time. I wrote about
world peace. When I used the Internet to get information about world peace, I was surprised to
read a lot of information. I didn’t know what information I should use for my speech. I also know

*opinions about one problem. Some information was right. But other
information was not right. I didn’t know what to *believe. We must be careful when we use the
information on the Internet.
And I think I use the Internet too much. It is very exciting to play games, so I often go to bed
very late. Yesterday I couldn’t get up early and I felt very *sleepy at school. I couldn’t learn well. I
want to stop using the Internet, but I can’t.
There is another bad thing about the Internet. A week ago, I was surprised to find bad things
about me on the Internet. Someone wrote them, but I don’t know that person. So I can’t say
anything to that person. I felt very sad. People can read and write anything on the Internet, so it is
very important for us to be careful when we write opinions.
