With the concept of excellent combustion structure, design and coloring that can compete with other world-class models, Kowa Foundry and Nakata jointly started developing a new model utilizing Kowa’s casting technology and Nakata’s combustion technology. In 2014, Kowa and Nakata successfully developed its own enamel painting technology, achieving the world’s first pearl enamel painted wood-burning stove. World’s first heat-resistant sphere-shaped glass was brought into reality with technical support from a glass manufacturer in Osaka. All elements of this collaboration product were “made in Japan”. Indeed, they are inactive most of the year. Because wood-burning stoves are sitting in a room throughout a year, we think stoves should possess both excellent design and coloring as an interior element in consideration of the off-seasons. The new model has a clean and high-performance combustion structure with a low CO (carbon monoxide) emission. The sphere and egg shape of the stove resulted from its combustion structure is different from the box shape of a conventional fireplace. To manufacture the stove in this shape, we applied our own casting technologies, including design and structural design, to the new model. Because it will sit in your room throughout a year, we gave extra consideration to the interior element of the stove. And this egg shape is the answer we found at the end. There is a reason for this shape; the combustion structure works best when it has this shape. The sphere and egg shape of the stove resulted from its combustion structure is different from the box shape of a conventional fireplace. To manufacture the stove in this shape, we applied our own casting technologies, including design and structural design, to the new model. From the aspect of material, casting is the best material for wood-burning stoves, because it has a higher thermal conductivity than iron. And this egg shape is the answer we found at the end.
