KEEPing Dogs with Adopters ~ KEEPing Dogs Out of Shelters
The Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley provides solu ons for
ending euthanasia of adoptable animals: Adopt. Spay. Keep. This is
our mission. In order to be er accomplish this mission, we are
adding some exci ng changes to our dog training and enrichment
programs thanks to the award of the PEDIGREE Founda on
Innova on Grant and the support of donors and volunteers.
We want to reduce the boredom and stress dogs experience in a
shelter through our enrichment program. Last year we enhanced
our program with Bemben Park and Hiking Hounds. This year we
look forward to further involving our volunteers in enrichment
ac vi es and expanding a walking trail. Mentally and physically
exercised dogs are happier dogs and happy dogs get adopted faster.
Part of our mission is to encourage life me pet ownership. We
want to help our adopters connect and communicate with their
dogs. This is why we are increasing the training assistance we
provide. Available assistance will soon include a help hotline, inhome consulta ons, and training classes
open to the public. We know a li le help As part of our promise
of continued support to

excited for the future.

Our program is led by
Elizabeth Fine ABCDT,
Training and Enrichment
Coordinator. Elizabeth
started her journey as a dog
trainer by a ending Animal
Behavior College, where she
graduated with
honors and
went on to
become an
ABC mentor
trainer. She
also completed
courses
specifically tailored to
training shelter dogs.
Elizabeth has been with HSTV
for two years now. Just this
past summer, she got the
opportunity to do an
externship, and eventually
became a part me
employee, of a local K-9
Facility that trains Search and
Rescue dogs.
In addi on to working with
the 1,000+ animals that HSTV
saves every year, the
opportunity to work with
private clients in the
compe on world has given
her a wide background of
knowledge.
