アジアには多くのバイオマス資源があり，その有効利用を進めることは，持続可能な社会の実現のためにも，アジア各国の経
済的な発展のためにも，きわめて重要です。特にアジアの国々の研究者の間で研究成果や情報の交換が求められています。そこ
で，学術的にアジアのバイオマスを議論することを目的として，日本エネルギー学会バイオマス部会は今年１月に第１回アジア
バイオマス科学会議を開催し，多くの参加者をいただきました。これを受けて来年１月に第２回アジアバイオマス科学会議を開
催します。今回もバイオマス科学会議の前日で，使用言語は英語です。留学生の方の研究発表，海外との共同研究の成果公表な
どに是非ご利用下さい。
なお，希望者の発表論文は査読の上，J. Jpn. Inst. Energy の特集号に掲載の予定です。バイオマス研究者や関係各位の皆様に多
くご参加戴けることを期待しております。

Utilization of large amount of biomass resources in Asian countries is essential for both realization of sustainable society and
further development of Asian countries. Especially, presentation of research outcome as well as information exchange among
Asian researchers are of importance. Last January, the Biomass Division, Japan Institute of Energy, organized the 1st Asian
Conference on Biomass Science to discuss Asian biomass academically with a large number of participants. Following this
success, it will hold the 2nd Asian Conference on Biomass Science in January, 2015. The papers will be published in the special
issue of J. Jpn. Inst. Energy after review. The registration site is now open. Students, researchers, and those who are interested
in Asian countries are invited to join.
