バイオマス利用は年々その重要性を増しており，その目的も，気候変動問題への対応，持続可能な社会の実現，地域の活性化，
国の経済発展，生活水準向上，電化率の向上，外貨の節約など国によっても地域によっても様々です。幅広い角度から，国際的
なバイオマス資源の有効利用を議論することが求められています。学術的にバイオマスを議論することを目的とした国際会議と
して，高知，つくばで開催されたアジアバイオマス科学会議の第３回を新潟で開催します。バイオマス科学会議の前日で，使用
言語は英語です。
なお，希望者の発表論文は査読の上，J. Jpn. Inst. Energy の特集号に掲載の予定です。バイオマス研究者や関係各位の皆様には，
是非とも多数のご参加をいただけることを期待しております。

Utilization of biomass is getting more and more important, with various purposes including countermeasure to the Climate
Change, realization of the sustainable society, activation of rural area, economic development of the country, improvement of living
standards, raising electrification rate, and saving foreign currency, depending on the country. As an international conference to
discuss biomass academically, the 3rd Asian Conference on Biomass Science is held in Niigata, following Kochi and Tsukuba.
The papers will be published in the special issue of J. Jpn. Inst. Energy after review. Students, researchers, and those who are
interested in Asian countries are invited to join. For the excellent paper presented by student, support for the student's travel is
made.
