老人介護に興味のある方対象の 2～4 週間の英語プラス老人ホームインターンシップ。週 16 時間の英語研
修のうち 12 時間は一般英語を研修。残り 4 時間は老人ホームでご老人とスムースな会話が出来るよう、コ
ミュニケーション能力の向上に重点を置いた授業を受講していただきます。
老人ホーム
週３回、老人ホームにてボランティアインターンとしての経験を体験していただきます。主な仕事内容は
散歩に同行したり、食事の介助、ご家族へのお手紙を書く際の補助、お年寄りの話し相手になっていただく
などです。研修先の老人ホームは Kiwi English Academy のある Newmarket から近いところにあります。
英語研修
Kiwi English Academy は Newmarket と呼ばれるオークランド市街地の中でもおしゃれな地区に学校を構え
ています。英語の授業は生徒さんのレベルに合わせてうまく構成されており、読み書き、聞き取り、会話能
力に重点を置いた、短期間でも最大の結果を出せるような授業構成になっています。週１２時間（月曜～金
曜）の一般英語研修に加え、週４時間のコミュニケーション能力向上のための授業を受講していただきます。

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What happens on the first day at school?
A. You will be taken to a rest home by Kiwi English staff and shown bus stops
to get on/off. Usually it is on a Monday after your placement test and
orientation.
Q. How will I get to the rest home?
A. You will need to catch a bus. The internship coordinator at Kiwi English will
give you the bus information. Some rest homes are within walking distance.
Q. What do I need to bring?
A. Students need to bring lunch.
Q. What are the work hours?
A. 1.30pm – 4.30 pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. No work on
weekends.
Q. Do I need to have special skills to work with the elderly?
A. You don’t need to have any special skills or training, although previous
caregiving experience would help. You will be given a handbook explaining the
specifics of working in a rest home.
Q. Will I be able to practise my English?
A. Surely! You will be working with rest home residents alongside the rest
home staff. You will need to be patient with residents and speak clearly because
some of them have hearing problems.
