デンプシー大将は２０１４年１２月１８
日、ワシントン DC においてアジア太平洋地域の安全保障環境、日米同盟の深化などについ
ての意見交換を行った。
両者は日本の防衛と地域の平和と安全のため日米共同対処の実効性の向上に努めていくこ
とに合意した。
両者は両国のみならず、アジア太平洋地域の平和と安全のため日米同盟が必要不可欠であ
ると認識した。

December 18th, 2014 – The Chief of Joint Staff, Japan Self Defense Force,
ADM Katsutoshi Kawano and The Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Martin
Dempsey, met to discuss the security environment in the Asia-Pacific region and strengthening the
U.S-Japan Alliance.
ADM Kawano and Gen. Dempsey agreed U.S. forces and the Japan Self Defense Force will
continue to improve the effectiveness of bilateral operations to deal with common security
challenges for the defense of Japan and regional peace and security.
Both officials acknowledged the U.S-Japan Alliance is vital for the peace and security of both
countries as well as the Asia-Pacific region.
