■島田会長 President Shimada
私は、５月６日からバンコクで始まった、ロータリーの国際大会に参加してきまし
た。バンコクでは、街中のいたるところにロータリーマークがあり、また多くのロ
ータリアンを見かけました。私は、ロータリークラブが国際組織である事を実感
しました。開会式には、タイの王女も出席され、華やかな大会となりました。
バネルジー会長は、今年のテーマに沿って「自分自身の心の中をみつめましょ
う。それこそが、博愛を広める原点となります」と話されました。また、「広報のた
めにｲﾝﾀｰﾈｯﾄを活用しましょう」との事でした。
I have participated in Rotary International Convention held from May 6 in Bangkok. In Bangkok, a rotary mark and
Rotarian were seen all over the town. I realized that a rotary-club was an international organization.
The princess of Thailand also attended the opening ceremony. President bernergee said along with the theme this year
that let’s gaze at the inside of our heart, it serves as the starting point which extends philanthropy, and he said that we
should utilize the internet for public relations.
皆さまご存知のとおり、次年度のＲＩ会長は、田中作治様です。日本人の会長が選ばれるのは、３０年ぶりの事です。田
中ＲＩ会長エレクトは、日本人朝食会や、２７５０地区のガバナーナイトに出席して下さいました。参加者は、皆さん田中
エレクトを応援していこうと、大変盛り上がっていました。田中ＲＩ会長エレクトは、「ロータリークラブは会員が中心であっ
て、クラブではない。」また「組織の大小は問題ではない。」と話されました。
この言葉は、私達のクラブにとって大きな励みになったと思います。
As you know our incoming RI president is Sakuji Tanaka. It is the first time in 30 years that the Japanese president of
RI is chosen. He also attended the Japanese breakfast meeting and the governor night of our district.
All participants want to aid him. In the meeting he said that the club member is more important than the club, and that
the size of an organization is not important. I think that is good sound for our club.

本日の理事会で武市純雄様が新会員として承認されました。
At today's board meeting, Mr.Sumio Takeichi was approved to be a new member.
5 月 31 日は渋谷ＲＣとの合同例会で、ジャネット大前様の篠笛（しのぶえ）の演
奏となります。例会の部屋はヒルズクラブのクラブルームⅠとなります。
On May 31st , we will have a joint meeting with Shibuya RC at a Club RoomⅠof
Hills Club. Ms.Jeannette Ohmae, Ms.Tosha Kaho will have a musical
performance of Japanese bamboo flute and Japanese hand drum.
6 月 7 日はケニアプロジェクトのチャリティゴルフコンペです。木曜日ですので、こちらでの例会はお休みとなりますの
で、お間違えの無いようにお願いします。
Ｏn June 7th , we will have a Golf Competition for Kenya Project. It will be held on Thursday, so we will not have a
regular meeting here.
