WINE REVIEW ON LINE (Michael Franz) ● GRAVE DI STECCA Brut 2010 (93 POINTS) – This is a late-released, thrillingly mineral-drive wine from stern to stern, though delicate fruit is also perfect in the aromas, flavors and finish. Finished with just 7 grams per liter of sugar, this is close to as intricately complex as a Prosecco can be. ● Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Vigneto della Riva di San Floriano (91 POINTS) – This shows a gorgeous delicacy in its bouquet as well as a very soft, creamy mouthfeel. ● Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Primo Franco 2012 (92 POINTS) – This wine is so irresistibly delicious. ● Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Rustico (90 POINTS) – A delicate floral note gets this off to good star aromatically, and the soft, pleasantly sweet mid-palate draws focus from fresh acidity in the finish. DECANTER (Richard Baudains) - 2013 • GRAVE DI STECCA Brut 2009 (18 PTS/20) - Delicate, refined nose with intriguing complexity. Floral, with distinctive lemon peel and pear. Soft, round palate with excellent development and a long finish of green pears and almonds, with a touch of saltiness at the very end. DECANTER (Michael Edwards) - 2013 • GRAVE DI STECCA Brut 2010 (18.5 PTS/20) - Brilliant straw hue, gentle bubbles. Lovely scents of sage and fresh orchard fruits. Silken textured, long multi-faceted finish, complex, a keeper. JANCISROBINSON.COM - 2013 • Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Brut (JH, 16.5 PTS/20) – Good intensity and not simple, as many Proseccos can be. • GRAVE DI STECCA Brut 2010 (JH, 17 PTS/20) – Highly aromatic...Fine bead, slight grip, very long. Lees texture seems to add both complexity & freshness. Elegant, mineral citrus, tight and stony. • Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Primo Franco 2012 (JH, 16.5 PTS/20) – Demi-sec Starts off with a mineral character but then the sweetness spreads across the palate. Reasonably fresh and noticeably creamy, with the sweetness coming through on the finish. • Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Rustico (JH, 16 PTS/20) – ...attractively fragrant with orange blossom & just a little bit grapey. Creamy on the palate. Really very aromatic. • Valdobbiadene Prosecco SUPERIORE DI CARTIZZE DOCG 2013 (JH, 17 PTS/20) – Ripe, almost tropical fruit. Mango even. Rich, soft, good depth & intensity...very good in this particular style. I'd like to see how this develops in bottle. • Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG VIGNETO DELLA RIVA DI SAN FLORIANO 2010 (JH, 16.5 PTS/20) - A single vineyard in the middle of Valdobbiadene, old vines on calcareous soil, steep slope...with notes of yellow fruit, plus a touch of apricot & ginger. • • • • • • • • ● ● ● ● ● INDEPENDENT WINE REVIEW - 2013 GRAVE DI STECCA Brut 2010 (90 POINTS) - It’s rare that Prosecco produces such distinctive wine and this 2010 Nino Franco “Grave di Stecca” Brut achieves an enviably high score for this and its overall persistence and balance. Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Rustico (89 POINTS) - An excellent non-vintage Prosecco that belies an “entry level” billing, it says much for Primo Franco’s winemaking philosophy that this is the lowest quality that he is prepared to accept. Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG VIGNETO DELLA RIVA DI SAN FLORIANO 2010 (93 POINTS) This 2010 Nino Franco “Riva di San Floriano” Prosecco is an astonishingly good Prosecco and a true endorsement of more than thirty years work Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Brut (87 POINTS) - An impressive Prosecco that will divide opinion with a (slightly) drier style. Rosè Brut FAIVE 2011 (87 POINTS) - A classy and well crafted wine, this “Faìve” Rosé is both characterful and impressive WINE &SPIRITS - 2013 Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG VIGNETO DELLA RIVA DI SAN FLORIANO 2012 (90 POINTS) “Savory scents of wheat germ and peppery spice balance this wine’s pineapple richness, all held in a lean frame. It ends firm, with dark earth tones adding a pleasant touch of bitterness.
