Academic activity



In 1998 he established the new Research Division of the Institute of Atmospheric
Pollution Research of the C.N.R. located in the campus of the University of
Calabria.
As Adjunct Professor at the Dept. of EHS of the University of Michigan he
provides lectures on emerging environmental issues including air quality for urban
areas, regional and global environmental evaluation with special focus on fast
emerging economies, development of environmental policy, negotiation of
environmental treaties, socio-economic evaluations in environmental science..
He has coordinated over 50 research projects funded by major national and
international institutions i.e., European Commission, U.S.EPA, UNEP, Italian
Government (i.e., Ministries of Environment, MIUR, Defense, etc.), Regional
Governments and private sectors.

He has been Advisor for PhD and master students.

He has been invited as Plenary Speaker and Key Note lecturer in international
conferences as well as in leading research centers and universities.
He has been chair of international conferences and workshops related to Ear th
and Environmental Science.


Atmospheric pollution in urban, industr ial and remote areas; Dynamic processes
of persistent atmospheric pollutants in the Marine Boundary Layer and at the airwater inter face; Emissions of atmospheric contaminants from major natural and
anthropogenic sources; Development of global observing systems for tracking
pollutants; Development of European and international environmental policies and
socio-economic evaluations of environmental issues.
