Annata 2010 Freshly cut flowers, mint, crushed rocks and pears are some of the notes that take shape as the 2010 Soave Classico opens up in the glass. The long, clean finish leaves a lasting impression. This is a terrific wine for the money. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. Pra does so many things well its hard to know where to start. All five wines I tasted were terrific. I can't think of too many wineries in Veneto that excel to this degree with both whites and reds. - James Suckling: 91 p. Annata 2012 Annata 2011 Prà's 2011 Soave Classico Staforte is deep, powerful and implosive. Here it is the wine's structure and pure power that stand out most. The 2011 needs another year or two to open up a bit, but it is undeniably beautiful. Lemon, grapefruit, jasmine and mint notes leave a lasting impression. - Wine Advocate: 90 p. Annata 2008 The 2008 Soave Classico Staforte is one of the more focused wines in this line up. Smoke, minerals and flowers add complexity to a precise, beautifully-articulated core of fruit. Ripe peaches and apricots linger on the finish. This is another delicious wine from Pra. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2013. This is a gorgeous set of wines from Pra, a reference point-producer in Soave. - James Suckling: 92 p. Annata 2011 A white with mineral and dried apple character plus hints of pear. Full body, beautiful fruit and a clean, crisp finish. Minerally and fresh. This is real Soave. Annata 2011 A much softer and more textured side of Soave comes through in the 2011 Soave Classico Monte Grande. Here the aromas and flavors are all finelyknit, while the wine conveys an impression of silkiness that stands in stark contrast to the pure structure of the Staforte. Both wines are quite beautiful and also remarkably different. - Wine Advocate: 92 p. Annata 2009 The 2009 Soave Classico Monte Grande impresses for its textural depth and overall polish. Juicy red peaches, apricots and flowers are all woven together in a fabric of notable class and elegance. This is a fabulous, generous Soave to drink now and over the next few years. The Monte Grande is 85% Garganega and 15% Trebbiano di Soave aged in cask. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. Pra does so many things well its hard to know where to start. Annata 2009 The beautiful 2009 Soave Classico Colle Sant-Antonio is that special kind of -bridge wine- that can be employed in both formal and informal occasions. It offers a lovely bouquet of ripe fruit, honey, yellow rose and blanched almond. The wine wraps gently around the palate with silky smoothness. Drink 2014-2018. Graziano Pra co-founded the Vignaioli Indipendenti group that fueled much of the modern day Soave Revival. - Wine Spectator: 91 p. Annata 2009 Harmonious and refined in texture, with rich flavors of almond financier, honey, poached quince and melon fruit, accented by ground ginger and chamomile hints that resonate on the lasting finish. Annata 2005/2009 The 2005 Recioto di Soave Classico delle Fontane reveals the essence of apricot jam, spices and flowers on a medium-bodied frame. This is an immensely enjoyable, refined Recioto di Soave. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2015. MORANDINA Valpolicella DOC - Wine Advocate: 89 p. Annata 2009 The 2009 Valpolicella Superiore Morandina opens with super ripe red cherries, flowers and mint. Hints of sweet herbs, licorice and fennel develop in the glass, adding complexity and nuance. The style is understated and nuanced; in other words perfect for drinking over the next few years. Drink now through 2017. MORANDINA Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso DOC - Vinous (Galloni): 92p. Annata 2011 Crushed flowers, sweet tobacco, mint and dried cherries grace the palate in Prà's 2011 Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore Morandina. Silky tannins provide the backdrop for this gentle, perfumed Valpolicella full of character and personality. Floral and savory notes reappear on the finish, adding lift and perfume. This is a lovely showing from Prà. - Wine Advocate: 91 p. Annata 2008 The 2008 Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso is fabulous. Layers of fruit build in the glass with tons of intensity and depth. Sweet dark cherries, flowers, new leather and spices are some of the nuances that inform the voluptuous finish. Anticipated maturity: 20122018. Annata 2010 Very smoky and minerally, with flavors of black cherry, macerated plum, black licorice and iron wrapped around a core of ground spice. Balanced, offering lightly chewy tannins on the finish. Drink now through 2018. AMARONE della Valpolicella DOC - Vinous (Galloni): 95 p. Annata 2008 The 2008 Amarone della Valpolicella captures the essence of this gorgeous Amarone Annata. Sage, rosemary, black cherries, plums, menthol and tobacco all meld together as the 2008 begins to open up. Sweet, perfumed and beautifully silky, the 2008 impresses for its impeccable balance. The tannins and underlying structure are there, but they are nearly buried by the wine's pure concentration. This is a fabulous showing from Prà. - Wine Spectator: 93 p. Annata 2007 This packs a lot into an elegant package, featuring layers of juicy black currant, prune, lots of spice-anise, black pepper and clove-and the sweet stemminess of burning vine clippings joined by hints of espresso and kirsch. These flavors fall effortlessly in a silky sheath over the supple tannins, which show on the firmer finish. Drink now through 2027.
