CHATEAU BEL AIR HAUT-MEDOC CRU BOURGEOIS OVERVIEW First references to "Château Bel Air" are found in the 15th century. The ancient origins of the property back to the first hours of Médoc wines history. After few years of tribulations, this "cru" has been divided. It is in 1980 that Henri Martin became the owner of the estate. The vineyard, facing the Gironde River, is located on a rich soil, which often gives generous character, headiness and good colour to the wine produced. VINEYARD Soil : Compounded by gravelly mounds over a subsoil partially made of blue clay / Surface : 34 hectares Average age of the vineyard : 30 years Location : The vineyard is located in Cussac-Fort-Médoc, a commune bordering Saint-Julien de Beychevelle, facing the Gironde River. Grape varieties : 75 % Cabernet Sauvignon / 23 % Merlot / 2 % Cabernet Franc VINIFICATION Manual harvest. Classical vinification in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats. Ageing for 12 months in barrels, with 25% new barrels. WINE TASTING The geographical location of this vineyard allows to produce wellbalanced and robust wines. The grapes are always well-ripened and their freshness preserved. Full, rich fruit on the palate initially and on the finish.
