The project “Wiele kultur – jedna Europa” (Many cultures – one Europe” was funded with the support of the European Union under the Programme "Europe for Citizens" Applicable to the Action 1, Measure 1.1 "Town Twinning Citizens' Meetings” Participation: The project involved 183 citizens, notably 102 participants from the city of Pelplin (Poland), 26 participants from the city of Soleczniki (Lithuania), 23 participants from the city of Alsonemedi (Hungary), 20 participants from the city of Colletorto (Italy), 11 participants from the city of Xghajra (Malta). Location/ Dates: The event took place in Pelplin in Poland, from 07/07/2014 to 17/07/2014. Short description: The day of 07/07/2014 was dedicated to: Arrival of participants, organizational meeting (reference to the program and important information); accommodation; meals; integration meeting. The day of 08/07/2014 was dedicated to: The official welcoming meeting of the project involving the Pelpin’s authorities and invited guests. At 12.00 o’clock participants explored the cathedral and the Cistercian complex. After lunch they took part in a medieval workshop in the Cistercian scriptorium. There was also a show of chivalric knights combine with workshops and dance. The workshops were held in two groups. In the evening, a large part of the participants were watching together a football match as a part of the World Cup in Brazil. The day of 09/07/2014 was dedicated to: The participants went to Gniew as a Pelplin’s partner city. The members of the project visited the Teutonic castle and saw a specially prepared show Polish hussars. After that there was lunch in the castle restaurant and some people could sail on Vistula river by gondola. Then the whole group returned to Pelpin. At 7 o’clock participants took part in a concert at the Cathedral in which, every year there is the International Festival of Organ Music. In the evening, the participants were watching a football match - match Brazil's World Cup. The day of 10/07/2014 was dedicated to: The participants visited the Diocesan Library. The Library prepared an exhibition of manuscripts and other books. Then, they all went to the hill of John Paul II where, in 1999, the Pope visited that place. On the hill there was an exhibition presenting photos of the Pope's visit in Pelplin. Before lunch, a group of 17 participants went to the village Rajkowy near Pelplin. The host, farmer John Krajnik showed and talked about his agricultural production (mainly bulls meat). They also discussed about the EU subsidies and agriculture. After lunch the main leaders of the project and majors visited a town hall and had an official meeting with representatives of the authorities in Pelpin. The mayor of Pelplin presented the community centre and talked about about the activities of municipality Pelplin. In the afternoon, the leaders of the Italian Marco Verna and Giulia Shining presented ideas about further cooperation of cities participating in the project. They presented the subject of the the Erasmus + and described how to correctly correctly create and write projects. After the presentation there was a discussion and a concert of popular music performed by musicians from Hungary, Italy and Poland. In the evening there was a bonfire party. The day of 11/07/2014 was dedicated to: The participants went to a trip to Gdansk. Firstly they visited the historical place Westerplatte, and then the Old Town. After dinner, they went to Sopot where they stayed on the beach and had a free time. In the evening the group returned to Pelplin. The day of 12/07/2014 was dedicated to: - After breakfast a group of 10 participants, interested in the subject of food production in Poland, the mayors Alsónémedi, Colletorto and Xgħajry visited Meat Processing Plant in Stanisław Rąbała in Bielawki near Pelpin. The guests became familiar with the production, talked about econimical problems in Poland and Europe, they shared their experience. At 11 o’clock all participants came to Bukowiec, where they took part in the Tournament of Farmers. Theyy had an occasion to taste tradicional food from Kociewie region and see folk music and dancing. After lunch in Bukowiec the whole group returned to Pelpin. Later, there was the "International Evening" in which each group presented their country, city and culture through multimedia presentations, dances in traditional regional costumes, presentation of food and other forms. The day of 13/07/2014 was dedicated to: Participants spent the time in a host family. Some of the family organized a trip to Toruń, Szymbark, canoeing on the river Wda in Ocypel. Other participants took part in a trip to Gdynia, where they went walking on Kościuszi square and did the shopping. In the evening after dinner they watched the Brazilian World Cup finals. The day of 14/07/2014 was dedicated to: The participants visited the Public City Library in Pelplin where they became acquainted with the activities of the institution. They could see the school and kindergarten, which are located in the same building. After that the members of the project took part in workshops connected with the programme offered by the European Union. They could know the diversity of different countries participating in this project. They worked in ten groups and presented the ideas on posters. In the evening spontaneously there was karaoke party in the Cultural Center. The day of 15/07/2014 was dedicated to: The participants went on a tour to Tczew. The meeting was held in a modern Activation Centre for the Disabled. It was possible to know the authorities of the District Tczew. The group went to the museum to see a few exhibitions. After that they saw an old town Tczew with a guide and there was a free time on the Boulevard by the river Vistula. After returning to Pelpin and after dinner there was a presentation of results of workshops which took place the day before. The day of 16/07/2014 was dedicated to: The participants visited the Diocesan Museum. During the walk, the group visited the Bishop’s palace and a garden. Then, at the Museum all had the opportunity to see the exhibits and the Gutenberg Bible. Then the group visited the local cemetery with valuable Necropolises. After lunch there was a final evaluation of the project assessment of the impact of the activities carried out in the project, proposals for future cooperation. Then there was an official meeting with the Pelpin’s authorities and invited guests. And the evening farewell party for all participants and residents of Pelpin. The day of 17/07/2014 was dedicated to: There was a special meeting time with leaders of the groups (Hungary, Italy and Lithuania). The aim of the meeting was to summarize the involvement in the project. Some of the people left Pelplin while the Maltese went on a trip to Toruń with a group of the Polish. In the afternoon there was a meeting in the group - the coordinator and several people responsible for running the projectto assess the organization of the project. In the evening, the leaders had a meeting with partners from Malta to summarize. The day of 18/07/2014 was dedicated to: The last meeting, summary, saying thanks and farewell the Maltese.
