PRESS STATEMENT 09-02-2015 (AFTER COMPLETION OF THE
PROTOCOL AGREEMENT)
Brussels – 9 February 2015
Tonight Delhaize and its social partners have reached a project agreement. This project
agreement will be presented by the social partners to their supporters. If the social partners
agree on it, the project agreement will become an official collective labor agreement that could
be signed on February 23rd, 2015, closing at the same time the Renault Law procedure.
This agreement is of vital importance to guarantee Delhaize Belgium’s future. Delhaize Belgium
will be better able to face the fierce competition and the economic circumstances.
This project agreement will allow us to reduce our cost handicap when it comes to salary
conditions and terms of employment.

We will introduce a lighter and more efficient structure in our company-operated supermarkets
We will use more efficient procedures and working methods and a fully focusing on new
technologies
We will adapt the wage and working conditions of all staff members with limited impact on their
buying power
We will end the company-operated activities of 10 non-profitable supermarkets. We look for a
buyer for our supermarkets located in: Aarschot, Berlaar, Eupen, Genk (Stadsplein), La
Louvière, Lommel, Oude Vest (Dendermonde), Turnhout and Verhaeren (Schaarbeek). We
plan to close the store of Kortrijk-Ring
We confirm that the collective dismissal can be limited to 1800 employees in the supermarkets
and headquarters through voluntary leave and voluntary early retirement.
When the project agreement will be executed, we will do everything in our power in order to find the
best solution for every employee. Delhaize confirms its commitment to investing a supplementary €
450 million in the 2015-2017 period in order to accelerate the implementation of our commercial
strategy, in particular in our supermarkets & e-commerce, training, logistics, assortment and prices.
Management would like to thank the different parties which are involved: social partners and
employees. The last 8 months were not easy and have often given rise to concern. With this
agreement we can work on Delhaize Belgium’s future together.

Begin juni 2014 telde het netwerk van Delhaize België 862 winkels in verschillende formules
(supermarkten Delhaize, AD Delhaize, Proxy Delhaize, Shop&Go, Tom&Co en Red Market) om een
unieke winkelervaring en een kwaliteitsvolle service te kunnen aanbieden. Delhaize stelt een ruim
assortiment voor van meer dan 20.000 kwaliteitsvolle producten tegen toegankelijke prijzen. Dankzij zijn 6
huismerken (365, Delhaize, taste of Inspirations, Bio, Eco, Care) kan Delhaize aan alle noden van de klant
beantwoorden. De klanten kunnen ook online hun boodschappen doen via www.delhaize.be en
www.delhaizewineworld.com voor wijn, of ze aan huis laten leveren door Caddy Home. Delhaize België,
dat in 2013 een omzet verwezenlijkte van EUR 5 miljard en in België een marktaandeel had van 25,5%*,
telt meer dan 15.000 medewerkers. Delhaize België maakt deel uit van Delhaize Groep, die actief is in 8
landen en op 3 continenten, en ongeveer 160.000 mensen tewerkstelt. Eind 2013 telde het netwerk van
